They did the same thing to Jean-Luc Picard this season. I mean, not the moustache—they gave him a new, tragic backstory that they never referred to before. So unnecessary.

Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Argh. Stop that, people!
I do keep forgetting to watch Picard. I should get on that.

I haven't watched past the first few episodes of the first season, but I've heard that Q is messing around with the timestream this season. Is it possible that the tragic backstory could be new within the narrative as well as on a meta level?
I think I am into this Nic Cage playing himself movie
More people need to go see Everything Everywhere All At Once! It's fantastic and very worth seeing in a theater.
It has a very Farscape vibe in that it FULLY commits to following through on each and every one of its weird as shit one-off gags.
Yes!
Just got back from it, and it was SO wonderful! I am really liking that the Russo Bros. have now worked with Michelle Yeoh as the lead actress; I hope that leads to more movies that feature her similarly.
Finally saw The Tragedy of Macbeth. Very cool, especially the last couple of sword fights. Macbeth coming at wossname all unarmed was badass. Made me want to rewatch Throne of Blood and maybe Orson Welles’ version. I might need to do a Macbeth-athon at some point.

"What are you watching tonight?"
"Bleak. Times Three."
Oh, I don’t know that I’d call it bleak. It’s kind of comforting, in a way, that the Macbeths can’t really handle being usurping murderers and I’m sure Banquo’s descendants were all good and just rulers and nothing bad ever happened to Scotland again.
