So it turns out The Matrix Resurrections is a love letter SPECIFICALLY TO ME and validates ALL OF MY FEELINGS about the sequels. It is a perfect movie and I want to smish its perfect little movie face and then give it a kiss on the nose.

(Going way back because apparently you asked me a question a month ago and I ignored you like an asshole? Sorry!)
How far through the book does the movie get?
Dune 1 ends with Paul and Jessica going with Stilgar to Sietch Tabr after the fight with Jamis.
That is most excellent news about Matrix. I have a serious love of the first one and didn't want to risk damage to my affections.
If you are a fan of the first one but not the sequels then Resurrections is probably not for you. Which is okay because it's for me and I will love it enough for all of us.
I really loved them all! But the first one is my greatest love. Just a big ole Matrix fangirl.
I’m glad to have that preparation, Jess. And I’m happy for you!
Ok, watched Matrix Resurrections today and it was awesome! For context, I did not love 2&3, but this one totally worked for me.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. We had rewatched the trilogy a couple of weeks ago and I wasn't quite sure where they would take it but both the new directions and the meta really worked for me (even though I'd get very confused when I thought about the tech or world-building too much).
I started thinking of it like Narnia, sort of. Like a portal fantasy, I guess? Hard to let go of that cyberpunk sheen that was so exciting about the first one, but made me feel better.
