Good one, Matt! I was stuck in a loop of "but why?" and that made me laugh
Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I seriously don’t understand the confusion about the Evan Hanson plot. I only know the one song, but I still know the plot. Then I realized that the theatre world is really small.
I love the music, but the actual plot of DEH makes me cringe.
Fantastic trailer for Edgar Wright's upcoming film, Last Night in Soho: [link]
Loving that surreal vibe and the neon palate. I am a horror weenie and the only Dario Argento I've watched is Suspiria, but the influence seems very clear. It's shot by the great Korean cinematographer Chung Chung Hoon, who was the DP for most of Park Chan Wook films including Old Boy, Lady Vengeance, Stoker, and The Handmaiden. Great cast as well -- Anya Taylor-Joy and Tomasin McKenzie are two of the best young actresses working today, and that sounds like Taylor-Joy singing that stripped down version of "Downtown." Colour me psyched!
That looks good but maybe to scary for me to actually see...
I think I can manage if the horror and violence are stylized and not super gory, which looks like to be the case with this one? I mean, I watched Hereditary in the theater and made it out alive (not untraumatized, but still.)
Mostly I'm just so happy to see interesting delayed projects from last year starting to come out. That reminds me, In the Heights is gonna be in the theater 2 weeks from now, and you bet your pants I'll be there with bells on.

Edgar Wright confirmed that it was her singing on Twitter. I agree it looks good.
Have just watched the new trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife; Paul Rudd is clearly living his best life.
Just nabbed tickets for The Green Knight this Saturday. I've heard good things about it. If COVID rates keep rising, this may be my last movie in a theater for a while, so I wanted it to be a good one.
Apparently Disney signed a contract with ScarJo that promised they would only show Black Widow in theaters. And then they broke that promise, and she isn't getting any profits from the Disney+ streaming. So she's suing for $50M.
