Last trailer for The Rise of Skywalker: [link]
I was like "eh, it's a so-so trailer" then the music kicked in and I was like OMG GIMME. Damn you, John Williams! The tickets went on sale yesterday just around the time the trailer came out, so my local geek buddy and I went and booked a Dolby showing for Saturday morning. I AM EXCITE!
Still not sure what to think about the whole Palpatine angle but I'm going in with an open mind.
LOL at those horses on a freakin' spaceship.
Knives Out
was so much fun. And the set design of the house was incredible. I don't just want to go to there. I want to live there always.
For the visually-striking movie convo. surprised nobody said "Pleasantville"
Has anyone seen the new Addam's family movie? Is it appropriate for a four year old?

Monti took her kids to see it and said it was incredibly boring, and her kids were bored too.
I don't think there were any worrisome scares though.

Sadly, I have heard the same from multiple other parental sources.
You guys, Parasite. SO FUCKING GOOD. And for people worried about horror..don't. It's not what you're expecting. If you can see it unspoiled, do it. (If you're already spoiled, see it anyway, but I went in cold and was DELIGHTED. And by delighted I mean also the opposite, but in a delighted way.)
I meant to see that this weekend, but didn't make it. I've heard/read literally nothing about it other than that, which made it a little tricky to see if any friends wanted to come with me?
Yeah, it's tough. The movie is so perfectly paced and there are multiple reveals that I really do think it's best to go in as unspoiled as possible!
Maybe go by whether or not they've seen and enjoyed his other work? (Okja, Snowpiercer)

Right?? I went to see it again on Friday with a couple of local friends, and knowing the story, it was no less enjoyable. Also fun: watching my friends lose their shit over some of the plot developments. I almost wish I could Eternal-Sunshine my brain so that I could re-experience watching the movie for the first time, haha.
Jesse, a bare-bone description without spoilers would be something like this: It's about two families whose paths get intertwined, one rich and one poor, and it has elements of comedy, drama, and thriller, mixed into a package that's both entertaining and thought-provoking. If your friends have seen and liked Bong Joon Ho's other films, it'd be a bonus, but honestly, I think it would be accessible to anyone as long as they're willing to watch a subtitled film.
So I thought Parasite was fine? I actually might have liked it more if I knew more about what it was, since the only other think I've seen of his was Snowpiercer. And, I mean, obviously stuff happens in it, but it's not like a Twist Movie, so I probably could have read a review!
