I've read various Ocean's 8 reviewers say
that they wanted an "oh, shit" moment where things looked like they would spin out of control, but that the team would resolve/turn out to have planned for/turn to their advantage and they didn't think the movie gave them that. But my hyper-competency fetish was well served by watching Sandra Bullock's character tick items off her list as her five years of planning came to fruition.
As I think about it, the fact that I and a lot of other people keep referring to [actor's name]'s character instead of the character's name probably points to something, too.
I still had tons of fun, and the show opened number one at the box office, so presumably, we'll see Ocean's 9. Yay!
I think the
"oh shit" moment was supposed to be/could have been when she comes out of the bathroom with no necklace on, but they didn't play that up enough, I guess.
Calli, you're not the only one with that Cate Blanchett dilemma: [link]
I didn't understand Cate Blanchett's purpose in Ocean's 8. What did she do, other than
provide a lair?
Also, I thought the
"oh shit" moment
was when
the waiter wheeling the necklace stopped to talk about weed with the other waiter,
but that was pretty weak as well.
Yeah, for all that I enjoyed the movie, there wasn't a lot of tension or narrative drive in it. And I did think the Gala dresses weren't nearly weird enough.
They're filming Wonder Woman 1984 in DC today - in Georgetown - and to be period appropriate, they've recreated the facade of the Commander Salamander store.
It's right by my office but I had too much work to go in this week.
We saw Solo tonight, and it was worth the $9. I would have preferred more Lando, but even so, Donald Glover was great. And L3 was awesome.
And L3 was awesome.
L3 was awesome but I'm a little concerned about gendered robots.
I watched the scary clown movie! I didn't pass out or die!
The changes from the book didn't annoy me, the character design for Pennywise was impressive, and the way Pennywise moved was impressively full of
DEAR G-D NO THAT IS NOT OKAY.
