I am seeing The Last Jedi on Saturday AND Sunday. The family had purchased tickets for Sunday a ways back. And then Denver Comic Con is having a private showing for the leadership team and we each got a plus one. I'm taking my future-son-in-law. I'm so excited!!!
Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I have to balance my desire to see The Last Jedi on my own time, and the desire to avoid spoilers.
I'm with Scola.
We're not seeing The Last Jedi for something like a week or more, and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to avoid Tumblr for the entire time, or if I'll give up trying to avoid spoilers.
But this reminds me to go up date my blacklist on Tumblr, just in case everyone I follow is good about tagging things.
I could be seeing it tomorrow night, because movies always open on Thursdays here so previews are on Wednesday. But B. and I can't go until Friday evening, so we're in sync with you guys after all.
I'm going on Saturday. A couple of friends are probably going as soon as it's in a nearby theater, but they're good about not spoiling others.
I'm on call for work this week so the earliest I can see it is next weekend. I do get next Friday off, so I may take the kid to see a matinee that day.
If we can get Gary's mom to look after Mr. S for a few hours on Sunday, we'll see it then. (It's not a matter of whether she wants to, it's a matter of if she's in town that weekend.)
If I have nothing pressing Sunday I might go to a noon showing and see if that avoids the worst of the crowds.
I have no idea how good the writing is going to end up, but damn does "Bright" have great visuals in the trailer. [link] (The random shot of a dragon flying by the moon in the background in one scene is a nice touch.)
The sad thing is this is probably the closest we'll ever get to a true Shadowrun movie (because even if its successful people will likely claim any attempt at a real Shadowrun move is "just a rip-off of Bright."
