Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

About a year or so ago, we were heading up the escalator to a local movie theater with our friends and we hear "Hey! Andy! Hi!" It was Anton and his parents who had just seen whatever movie we were on our way to. He was so unaffectedly delighted to see Andy (Propmaster on the Star Trek Movies), solicitous of his parents and so nice to the DH and I that it was a pleasure meeting him. Lots of actors of his stature would not even remember the prop guy's name, let alone greet him so happily. Just in that short interaction, you could tell he was a total good guy. Such a shame.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm watching Elizabeth: the Golden Age, with Cate Blanchett. I'm only partway in, but I want every bit of jewelry Elizabeth has worn thus far.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

So, the commercial for "Bad Moms" makes it look horrible, but I really like all 3 of the lead actresses. Quandary.

I saw a WONDERFUL movies this weekend-- Hunt for the Wilderpeople. It's charming and unsentimental and quirky in the way that NZ and Australian movies can be. Sam Neill is amazing in it. If it comes near you--go see it. I promise you will not be sorry. [link]

I saw Now You See Me 2 this past weekend. The plot doesn't bear close examination, but it's still a lot of fun.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

It's by Taika Waititi, who also did What We Do in the Shadows. Apparently it had the highest grossing opening weekend in NZ for a New Zealand film. (The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit aren't classified as NZ films for this purpose.)

Yes, I forgot to say that. It's the reason we went in the first place.
