Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
shrift, more than one day of that would send me over the edge. Is there anything social you can bail on?
Today is a little less crazy. I still have a bunch of meetings, but I'm working from my hotel today. I have a bunch of calls to make about apartments, one appointment to view a place, and an open house I can go to. Then I'm going to a friend's house for a low-key dinner.
I just need to figure out lunch right now because I'm starving.
Insurance is not wanting to fill my AD script. Doctor has to get pre-authorization from Cigna before CVS can fill it. Doctor's office says they didn't get the pre-auth request, so now I'm on the phone trying to coordinate communications. Never had to do this before. Might be because he wrote it for 3 months instead of one, but still, don't tell my doctor what meds I can have.
Also just spent an hour on a conference call. I'm now part of a team developing "best practices" for something that's not even part of my job description. My sole contribution to this meeting was reading aloud the email (that no one else could find) from the Boss wherein she defines what she wants us to accomplish. Spoiler: we will not accomplish it. We have no direction, no guidance, and no hope of change. Our participation in this meeting was coerced with vague reminders of "goals reviews" and we just want the brownie points.
Sometimes I think I'll keep working as long as I can, until my full retirement age, because the money's good and the job's pretty easy. And sometimes I think I'll retire as soon as I'm allowed to, because I can't take too much more of the bullshit that's endemic to the corporate environment. Dammit, this is why I never went for a managerial position. I just want to do my actual job and go home at night; I don't want more and more crap piled on me as my ever-expanding "goals" that must be met as part of my once-simple job.

I'm glad our healthcare system is so perfect and in need of no changes.
I'm leaving this here for myself, but also for everyone else: Apparently this is where Dollar Shave Club gets their razors. [link]
I totally get my razors from Dorco! Honestly, I don't think they're *quite* as good as what I had been using (Schick Quattro) -- I never, ever, cut myself with the Schick, but I do end up with some nicks with the comparable Dorco razor -- but the price more than makes up for some nicks. I'm way too cheap to switch back. And they're essentially the same. Let's say 95% the same, which is good enough for me, again, given the price.
And Tim switched from cheap-ass disposable razors to Dorco 4-blade razors and said "This is like going from driving my old Mazda to driving a Cadillac!"
So there are your endorsements. Also, if you Google, there are always coupon codes for Dorco, so you can stock up for SUPER cheap.

Ahahahaha. Oh, if only. It infuriates me that my insurance company has a say in how many pills of whatever I'm allowed to have in a certain time frame.
Ah. My work computer has been hijacked by ransonware. My email files (maybe other files too) have been encrypted and if we pay the virus people money they'll send us the encryption key.
I'm in favor of getting a new HD and reinstalling everything. I'll see what my boss says when he gets back on Tuesday.
I need to take 60mg of my AD but it doesn't come in that dosage, so I take 3 20mg pills a day. Which insurance thinks is 3 months worth. Ummmm, no. Thankfully the drug is covered under the $4/$10 thing Colorado does for certain meds(is this nationwide? I don't remember this in California).
Me too, even if I rarely run afoul of it. My doctor, or even an accredited pharmacist putting the brakes on a prescription out of concern for my health I could put up with, but I do not like having a window of a few days in which I can refill before withdrawal symptoms start thanks to some insurance analyst's spreadsheet.
I have achieved burrito. One more meeting and then I can focus on apartments. I'm reasonably sure I've put in about 40 hours already this week, so I'm mostly blowing off work on Friday unless something urgent comes up.

They probably won't send you the encryption key, and even if they did, they'd likely use your payment instrument to continue adding additional charges. I'd go with new HD & reinstall.
The cryptolocker stuff is showing up more and more often. I've dealt with 3 in the last six months.
edit: that is, customers calling in wanting to know why they can't get to their fiels
