Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, a nearby hematologist sounds like a good idea.

hip deep in pie

I managed to give myself a paper cut on my lip. Which would suck less if I wasn't having a root canal in an hour.

The higher-up I'm traveling with has the best rich person problems - he's made calls about issues with his boats and pool, and I think he just booked a private plane. Maybe he will be flying it? Good thing I like him, or he would be unbearable.

I will wear his diamond shoes if he needs. IJS.

I hate central time. Or more specifically, going from pacific TO central time. Mornings. Also hate: work system that is thankfully working again (after several hours with IT on Friday) but now has a bunch of messed up data in it--I think because I didn't finalize one thing before this thing started? Now I'm not sure what changes I can make to each. Going to have to manually write everything down and hope I can get the precious thing finalized quickly (...which I couldn't do last week because the system was down)

brillig

I am forcing myself not to schedule a few days in Vegas next summer, because I want to move next summer and I'll need those vacation days and that money. But--pool! Minions bearing cool things to drink! Comfy chairs to read in and nothing else to do but sit and read! And decide which restaurant to eat in!

edit: But Vegas in the summer is so fucking cheap from Salt Lake City!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

We had a wonderful summer weekend: work BBQ at the pool and tennis on Saturday, impromptu sail with friends on Sunday afternoon. Now Monday seems to quiet. But I do need to motivate myself to do some work so I can feel virtuous later.

This week represents a parenting fail on our parts: we managed to sign up one kid for camp but not the other. So I can't let having a kid at home keep me from working, but I also can't let him get so bored he pops! This will be a challenge, but oh well.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

NorCal peeps, I may need to be in Sacramento next Tuesday. SMF is expensive. Are there any alternatives within reasonable driving distance? OAK? SJC? SFO?

Our wings are not tired.

Oakland is two hours away from Sac but if it's a work trip won't they just pay for the actual airport you need to visit?

I'm surprised SMF is expensive, it's often been a cheaper alternative for me. OAK is about a two hour drive to Sacto, longer if there's traffic. That's the closest.

It's being combined with another trip to Denver for a presentation on Wednesday. The multi-city itinerary is coming in at ~$1000 because of my required travel times.

Trying to figure out if there's a significant difference...
