Fanfic question, Harry Potter edition: a parent would like a site/resource that will allow her 11 year old to read the HP fanfic she is obsessed with, without straying into (much) adult content. Are there HP fanfic that's for children sites? (This is not me and my 11 y o. Also, I know some of you were writing porn at 13, but either this 11 y o is not there yet or she's hiding it well from her mother.) (Actually remind me to tell you about mr. flea's coworker's 13 y o son who wrote RPF porn about people at his school and posted it in a public internet forum where it was found by people at his school.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, it is pouring like crazy, and for some reason I thought I didn't need to wear a raincoat? So my shirt is wet, in addition to my feet and legs. Good times.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

flea, these are both listed as "canon-compliant", which at least cuts down on a lot of the more adult stuff.

Fanfiction.net, last I checked, does not allow NC-17 stories, but I don't know how thoroughly they check what gets uploaded.

Oh no! Am weirdly sad that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are getting a divorce. [link]

FFN is not strictly controlled: given some of what I've read there, I wouldn't recommend letting an unaccompanied pre-teen wander freely.

Yeah, I'm not surprised.

AO3 has robust search, but not any kind of parental controls.

I really thought HP had a general audiences archive, but I can't find it.

Me too. Mainly because from afar they seemed to work hard at being a family.

I kinda believe there might just be the one nurse who can do the thing. I don't know, it just seems plausible at the moment. Shouldn't be, but is.

Oh I believe this. But Grace was also there when she was training another, younger nurse. And it's nothing that's rocket science -- they place an IV, they draw blood for the lab, they give a sub-cutaneous injection and then draw blood another 5 times over the course of 3 hours, every half hour. I just think it's hard to believe no one else can place the IV, draw blood, give injections in a children's hospital.

Also sad about Ben and Jennifer, because she seems so cool, and I wanted to believe he reformed due to the love of a good woman, etc (speculation is that his gambling and womanizing). Plus they've got kids and that's always sad.

I hate when my alarm goes off and I'm so sleepy I can't figure out why it's making noise.

Flea, no ideas on HP other than she could search on AO3 herself and maybe download appropriately-aged stories? You can save them in kindle format, for instance.

Frankly, I've been expecting the Affleck/Garner split since Daredevil tanked. At least they stayed married past their 10th anniversary, so you know it wasn't one of those Tom Cruise multi-year publicity stunts engineered to avoid community property laws.
