I don't let the cats in the bedroom, because they're both assholes at night. Sleeping on the couch is no problem, but there's something about the bedroom that turns them into demon children.
I finally had to give up and turn on the heat this week. Saturday it dropped to 36 degrees and my house will not hold heat unless it's been sunny during the day. I've set it to 65 so I can acclimate to colder winter temps.
juliana (and Lee), I would be interested in what M has to say about Nest. I've been thinking about installing the thermostat for a while now, but I'm unsure if I'll get the benefit since I work at home. If he's willing to share his opinion, I'd be grateful.
Jesse, that's aggravating, and one of my biggest pet peeves about public transit. Speaking of, did everyone in DC or DC-adjacent hear that the feds have taken over safety oversight of the Metro? Things have gotten bad.
My house in Frederick has sold, for $27,000 LESS than the bank was asking, and $173,000 less than we paid. I'm floored. There doesn't seem to be any kind of housing recovery there, or prices were that far out of whack. It's still mind-boggling, and cements my decision to walk away from it. There was no way I was ever going to be on the right side of that in my lifetime.
I can pretty much sleep with Miss Bobo walking around on top of me. Unfortunately, her wake-up time is 3 am-- by the time it is time for me to get up she is all cuddly and inviting, and I want to stay in bed.
I also REALLY wish I could get out of bed in the morning. I wake up, but I basically doze/go back to sleep for hours. Today my first alarm went off at 5 am, and I got out of bed at 8:15, and only then because I really had to go to the bathroom. This is typical. It isn't so much that I am sleepy, I just really don't want to get up and I keep shutting my alarm off and going back to sleep.
Gah, this day/week is not off to a great start.
I feel you. I got home from the airport around midnight and didn't get to sleep until around 1:30am, and now I'm on the way to my office because meetings. Several if which are not going to be a fun time.
My plans tonight involve leftovers, my couch, and TV.
Guess whose alarm was not set for when she thought it was this morning? Fortunately, not a disaster.
Monday needs to knock this shit off, man.
There is snow in the mountains. But my house holds heat well, so I won't worry about turning on the furnace yet.
Sounds like SOMEBODY's got a case of the Mondays! Or everybody.

Holy crap. You definitely made the right call.
When I got to work it was 58 inside our office, as someone had left the thermostat in A/C mode over the weekend. I'm drinking tea and wearing three shirts, so I'm OK.
Do not want to be awake and working. I probably shouldn't have been reading until 1am this morning. But books!
Had a busy but good weekend. Got my tush out of the house both days, trying to break my hermit/depression tendencies. The depression has been building again lately and I'm trying hard to not let it paralyze me.
Wow, Maria. Yeah. good choice.

That sounds great! I am torn between spending some post-work daylight hours working in the yard while I can (ie, while it's not scorching hot and also not dark and/or raining) and catching up on my TV watching. We'll see how the day goes.
