Librarian Warlord

Here is what I have learned: one of the most common presentations for vertigo is 4-8 weeks post a URI. One guress how I know this. Probably didn't help that I flew to Boston, & Croatia sick. I hope I can get some work done tomorrow; I am already going to have to beg forgiveness from my staff and my Dean.

Wish I could stick around but you all are sort of sideways.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Goldsmith's was awesome before Macy's bought them out.

Oh no, Sparky! Didn't Suela have to go through that too? And Lee, maybe? Goodness!

Best things were pumpkin JoJos, and especially the mini pumpkin ice cream sandwiches on ginger cookies.

I was sorely disappointed in the pumpkin ice cream sandwiches. I much prefer the actual pumpkin ice cream with the thin Anna's gingersnaps, and making my own. Way tastier.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I haven't gotten to TJ's since ltc was born because it is not the market down the street. I have had other people pick up things for me there, but that is not the same as bring able to browse the seasonal stuff myself.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

So many memories on that list of store logos, especially Bullocks and Robinsons.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Ah, Sibleys! I can't believe we used to have a beautiful, multi story department store in Diwntown Rochester. It was still around in the late 80s.

So this is blowing up in the Astro community.

[link] [link] [link]

Many of my female friendsand acquaintances in astro are publicly stating that they'd been warned away from Marcy early in their careers. Why that underground network rather than through official channels? Well, look how official channels handled it (see 3rd link especially.) Because time and again, the official channels fuck you too. Poor, poor harasser. Let's all cry a tear for his feewings!

ONLY because Marcy is such a public figure is anyone really giving a shit beyond the back channel. If it was just a moderately successful prof, it doesn't hit buzzfeed, the Atlantic and Forbes, to name a few, and he remains, mildly chastened, screwing up lives and careers.

Ugh, that's so fucking depressing, Sarameg. Especially the university response of "this is hardest for him". WTF. No, it's hardest for the women who ended up switching out of science or academia because of him. For the women who never went into it because of men like him. For the women who still shudder at a memory or at the possibilities they thankfully escaped.

Yup! On the upside, this has over 1300 signatures and I recognize a lot of those names. Some who are in positions that by going public with this, make it official that Marcy is persona non grata in some pretty hallowed halls. In a few cases, I know they've been quietly doing it for years, but, again, back channel.

(At least one Nobel laureate on that list.)
