Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Ah, Sibleys! I can't believe we used to have a beautiful, multi story department store in Diwntown Rochester. It was still around in the late 80s.

So this is blowing up in the Astro community.

[link] [link] [link]

Many of my female friendsand acquaintances in astro are publicly stating that they'd been warned away from Marcy early in their careers. Why that underground network rather than through official channels? Well, look how official channels handled it (see 3rd link especially.) Because time and again, the official channels fuck you too. Poor, poor harasser. Let's all cry a tear for his feewings!

ONLY because Marcy is such a public figure is anyone really giving a shit beyond the back channel. If it was just a moderately successful prof, it doesn't hit buzzfeed, the Atlantic and Forbes, to name a few, and he remains, mildly chastened, screwing up lives and careers.

Ugh, that's so fucking depressing, Sarameg. Especially the university response of "this is hardest for him". WTF. No, it's hardest for the women who ended up switching out of science or academia because of him. For the women who never went into it because of men like him. For the women who still shudder at a memory or at the possibilities they thankfully escaped.

Yup! On the upside, this has over 1300 signatures and I recognize a lot of those names. Some who are in positions that by going public with this, make it official that Marcy is persona non grata in some pretty hallowed halls. In a few cases, I know they've been quietly doing it for years, but, again, back channel.

(At least one Nobel laureate on that list.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So many memories on that list of store logos, especially Bullocks and Robinsons.

My friend Rio was a child-model at the fancy flagship Bullock's. Wearing outfits and going from table to table where the ladies dined saying, "You can find this outfit in the Children's Department."

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hey, so can Spanish speaking 'ffistas give this set of Spanglish lyrics a once over to see if I and my cowriters are committing any egregious linguistic sins?

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Two Cleveland Department stores were featured - Halle's and Higbee's. To the best of my knowledge I never went to Halle's. But Higbee's, well, that was THE place to go for Christmas - familiar to holiday movie afficianados as the location of the department store in "A Christmas Story". Plus it was in the Terminal Tower, so you more or less had to go through it to go anywhere in Downtown Cleveland if you used the Rapid Transit commuter light rail to get there.
