Illyria: Wesley's dead. I'm feeling grief for him. I can't seem to control it. I wish to do more violence. Spike: Well, wishes just happen to be horses today.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Tonight he is asking for a messaging app that everything I just read says it is a pedophile/sexting filled mess with no safeguards. geez. KIK. anyone use it?

I've never used it, but I know it's popular with teenagers. As for the sexting stuff, do you think he's responsible enough to follow rules like "Don't accept messages from strangers" and "Let an adult know if someone asks you to send a photo"?

I don't use KIK, but some of the sketchier personals ads I've read lately seem to favor it as a method of communication. I'd give that one an Oh HELL No! for a teenager to be using.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I've never used KIK either, but I've talked about it with a friend who is a social worker and works with kids. She has concerns about sexual predators as well, mostly because tweens and teens often are lacking in impulse control and good judgement.

It's possible to use the app and be perfectly safe, but only if you turn on all the privacy settings, don't post your username anywhere, and don't respond to any messages from strangers who've guessed your username.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Extra ugh, msbelle. Can you use the "it's not you, it's other people I'm worried about" line, or does that no longer work?

And I'm sorry about the crap day, sarameg.

So the meeting I went to was a gifted meeting at Franny's school. My take away message was that the accelerated math program is a hot mess and thank dawg Frances is in the regular math class, with the ONE math teacher I've heard say things like "I don't care what the pace of the class is *supposed* to be, I'd rather take the time for the students to learn the concept correctly now or there will be holes in their knowledge later" instead of "the standards are so rigorous and hard, many of the students won't get it, many of them struggle with it, you really have no idea, the class is just SO HARD!"

Dammit cats, your poo is not a soccer ball to be kicked around the apartment for your entertainment! Why not play with the perfectly good cat toys I've bought for you?
