Actually, I was thinking it would be sort of like a pet. You know, we could...we could name her Trixie, or Miss Kitty Fantastico, or something.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Julie, I'm sorry, they should be more aware of what they're saying. Even unintended it's still painful.

Day 2 of conference ended with eating delicious Russian food, getting soaked in a downpour, and falling into bed exhausted at 8:30. Still gotta do some work before I sleep.

Thrive to spite them

Julie, have directly asked them to stop?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Julie, that's awful. Really and truly.

sarameg, as referenced Elsewhere what I texted Jilli to say was "Dear QA, show me on the doll where the defect touched you." when I got fed up with not getting enough information.

Hahah!

Yeah, today I was emailing my boss with "if you want me to do that you'll need to clone me. 15 times" and she was all "well the resourcing issue has been raised to the highest levels of the company because they're very concerned, but (my job title) is in short supply". My response was "yeah, and if you make me try to do 150% of what I should be doing for another month, they're going to have one more position that's not easy to fill". Ugh!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

(And then had zero transition support for several months because of territorial government assholes)

Does not matter!

Once again today my coworkers made suicide jokes again. And once again I wanted to heckle them with "really? Too soon, yeah?".

You should, though. People don't think.

I feel like the goddamn neighborhood fairy godmother. In a good way. Just got a request for a watch with a second hand because my friend has clinicals tomorrow (in nursing school) and lost hers. I have one, but she's hitting up nearby drugstores first, at my suggestion (because I'm happy to loan it, but it is small and hard to read and she hadn't thought of checking there.)

For my next feat, I'll save a kitten...wait, already did that. A few times.....

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

You should, though. People don't think.

Or possibly come over all concern troll-y: "You know, you keep making jokes about suicide, and sometimes people make jokes when they are really thinking about it. Here are some resources for you if you need them." Hand over either pamphlets or info about a mental health help line or some such. If they defend by saying they were just joking of course they aren't going to do anything like that, you say something oh, so earnest about how they are much too valuable a person to take chances with, and you understand that the stigma of mental health challenges causes people to make light of their own suffering.

Not everyone can pull that sort of thing off, though.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

So, someone I know just posted on Facebook that her (Long-Island-raised) son got dinged on a school assignment (in Arkansas) for saying "meant" and "mint" are not homophones. Regional accents strike again!

They are here!

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Our nurse's last day is tomorrow. And I'm genuinely pissed. The pissed-ness is coming from feeling abandoned and worried for Grace and just generally blah.
