Look, you got a little stabbed the other day. That's bound to make anyone a mite ornery.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Work ~ma, Maria, and let me echo your meara:

flea, you're the best kind of librarian.

Suzi, go you! That's fantastic. Fundraisers are stupidly complicated to put together.

because I can't think of new or better ways to say that.

Doctor visit was successful! Qapla'! Cholesterol numbers are all down nicely and the doctor is pleased, so no increase in dosage needed. BP still a little too high, med increased again, but I'm okay with that; I haven't been having any side effects with this one. But I'm pre-diabetic and those markers are getting worse. There's no genetic component for it that I'm aware of; no one else in my family is diabetic. (Or fat, except for my grandma, who was quite heavy but never became diabetic.) Doctor wants me to lose weight. (Surprise.) The only thing I can control here is my admittedly shitty diet and bare-minimum of exercise. So that's the plan: eat better, move more. (He thinks eating less carbs will solve all my problems. That'd be nice. But it'd be a great start, for sure.)

Steph, I hated the idea of taking a statin too; I was very resistant to it. I still think high doses of statins are a bad idea, especially if people don't know what they do. But this doctor has been pretty convincing, and he's careful to test everything every few months. (I forgot to ask him about CoQ10, dang it, but I supplement. Next time.) If a low-dose statin with no side effects might help me live longer, I'll do it. After/if/when I ever lose some weight I'll revisit the statin and see if I can keep my cholesterol in normal ranges without it.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Talk about not adulting properly... I failed to book my rental car and hotel for tomorrow. Though I'm trying to figure out if taxis would be cheaper. I'm going from airport to hotel, hotel to state capital complex, and state capital complex back to the airport.

edit: This is what I get for leaving the comment box open for 20 minutes. Qualified hooray, Zen!

Thanks, Maria! I think I'd take a taxi, to avoid the trouble of finding parking.

Hah, if it helps Maria, I recently booked a plane ticket to the wrong city...at least hotels can still be affordable last minute? Where are you going?

Aren't you headed to Salt Lake? Would their light rail (Trax?) get you where you need to go? I loved when our office was downtown and I didn't have to rent a car.

Thrive to spite them

I locked myself out of my house again today. I got in but I realized I really need to hide a spare key. Right now finding a place isn't that big of a deal.

Come winter when there is snow on the ground it will be. So any ideas for where I can hide it?

I live in a mobile home - there's a porch to the front door with thick hedges surrounding the front and one side of the property. The backdoor doesn't really open. I had thought somehow attaching a key under one of the porch steps but that doesn't seem like a good answer.

meara, SLC. I found an affordable Hilton right downtown.

The only thing that worries me is that my meeting ends at noon and my flight out is at 1:55 pm.

Suzi, I'm staying downtown, and my meeting is at the Department of Administrative Services at the State Office Building on North State Street.

Hee. Heh. Oh, gosh.

Sorry. Trax is designed to get from downtown to the university, down along the main corridor down the valley, and--only recently--to the airport. It doesn't go up to the capitol, and unless the hotel is downtown, that won't help.

If you need to get from the meeting to your hotel to the airport, I'd grab a cab. It's a fairly easy drive, but I like leaving traffic wrangling to professionals.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

And cutting out the rental car drop off will save time.
