I don't know why, but I have to emphasize that most stuff is pumpkin SPICE flavor, not pumpkin flavor.
Whyn't they just call it nutmeg flavor, then?
We will be here to remind you the next time the demons rear their ugly heads.
Yep.
Today I see the doctor to get the results of the first cholesterol test after I started taking the statin I didn't want to take. We'll see if the numbers are down. I suspect they are not, since I'm on a very low dose. I suspect he will increase the dose. But they took five or six vials of blood last week, so they must have been testing for more than cholesterol. We'll see how close I am to dead and what the doctor can scare me with this time.
I'm SUPER against taking a statin, even with the epic heart disease in my dad's family. (Actually, the fact that he's had 5 heart attacks even though he started taking statins after heart attack #1 seems like proof they aren't cardioprotective. Yes, his cholesterol has come way down, but he had 4 more heart attacks. So...I fail to see the benefit.)
And, shit, I need to go get another cholesterol test done. I'm like 5 months overdue. My doctor had me start taking red yeast rice supplements for my cholesterol, because clinical trials have shown a benefit. We'll see.
ION, I just took an apple crisp out of the oven and the house smells SO GOOD.
I just bought more apples to make an apple crisp. I made a peach crisp a week ago and while it was good, it left me craving an apple crisp as that is my go to crisp fruit.
Then she came out to SF to visit me, and by the time that trip was over, she had proposed to me, and I accepted.
Congratulations, Sean and Re. In the FB pictures you have shared, you both are so glowing, so happy.
I would really love to bring them out to California (because I adore my chosen state), but if I have to leave, leaving it to go be with them is a no-brainer.
I love living in the Denver area. The main thing I miss about California are all my friends out there. But the mountains are so beautiful I can get blissfully lost just looking at them.
Though I did purchase both pumpkin waffles
We did too!!! No pumpkin Jo-Jo’s yet.
I also ventured into Walgeens though, where they have a lot of Nightmare before Christmas stuff this year.
K-Bug has gone Nightmare before Christmas crazy this year. Between local street fairs, Hot Topic, Walgreens, and Walmart, her room is bursting with Jack, Sally, and Oogie-Boogie.
Moving ~ma to Liese's family and surgery ~ma to Typo.
What Teppy said. Lots of ~ma!!
I just legit love pumpkin-flavored stuff.
Pumpkin fudge is my ideal pumpkin treat.
Perhaps if I still drank coffee I'd like the pumpkin stuff at Starbucks.
I don’t drink coffee either, Tommyrot. Thanks to the recommendation of a friend, I now order Pumpkin Spice Chai. Tis NOM!
Low Cholesterol~ma to Zen and Teppy.
Woohoo, tumblr finally got back to me and it was a glitch (not me being on a mysterious no-tumblr list) that has been fixed. I can log in and everything!
I also have the day off for Rosh Hashanah. It's been a lovely, lazy morning.
Popping in to say that Steph needs to remember this when she feels like she's a failure at her job. Why would they recommend that you mentor someone if they didn't think you were capable and doing a good job?
Yeah, that. Also, I always love telling people about work stuff I know. You're the expert! Highly recommended!
rather have the Oprah Chai, which is delicious and cinnamon-y
On behalf of my former colleagues at Girls Inc., thank you! (They get part of the proceeds.)
Friday was our big fundraiser for CJ's Search and Rescue team. My last big involvement before fading out now that he has graduated.
It was a golf tournament followed by a silent auction and dinner. It was our first time adding a golf element to the event and we were at a new venue. The gal who was the main force behind the planning was extremely ambitious and I'll admit I doubted some of the things she wanted to do.
Day of, it all came together. It was an extremely long day and I was much more involved than I had hoped to be, but I suck at saying no. Yesterday they did the review of all the financial information, gross intake, expenses, and net results. We more than doubled last year's results. We almost pulled in one year's worth of expenses for the team, which is completely amazing.
It was only a matter of time, really. [link]
It was only a matter of time, really.
My favorite part: "Officials also stated that an innocent 35-year-old passerby who found himself caught up in a long-winded dispute over use of the serial, or Oxford, comma had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Information need of the day: two young women, sort of alternative-looking, who asked for books on 1) demonology 2) serial killers and 3) the police exam.
Also, after they asked for the demonology books I was like, "Sure! Let me look up the call number," and the one girl said to the other, quietly, "See, they don't judge." Hee.
