Friday was our big fundraiser for CJ's Search and Rescue team. My last big involvement before fading out now that he has graduated.
It was a golf tournament followed by a silent auction and dinner. It was our first time adding a golf element to the event and we were at a new venue. The gal who was the main force behind the planning was extremely ambitious and I'll admit I doubted some of the things she wanted to do.
Day of, it all came together. It was an extremely long day and I was much more involved than I had hoped to be, but I suck at saying no. Yesterday they did the review of all the financial information, gross intake, expenses, and net results. We more than doubled last year's results. We almost pulled in one year's worth of expenses for the team, which is completely amazing.
It was only a matter of time, really. [link]

My favorite part: "Officials also stated that an innocent 35-year-old passerby who found himself caught up in a long-winded dispute over use of the serial, or Oxford, comma had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
Information need of the day: two young women, sort of alternative-looking, who asked for books on 1) demonology 2) serial killers and 3) the police exam.
Also, after they asked for the demonology books I was like, "Sure! Let me look up the call number," and the one girl said to the other, quietly, "See, they don't judge." Hee.
Congrats, Suzi! That is awesome. Golf events can be a huge PITA, but also a huge draw for people with money, as I'm sure you saw...

Were they possibly named Samantha and Deana?

Snerk. Perhaps very thorough fic writers who don't want to have an Internet search history.
I just looked at the clock on my computer and felt the urge to tap it to see if it was broken, followed by the stern voice of logic saying that digital clocks can not be tapped to fix them. And that the odds of a digital clock having stopped are slight.
I am desperately working, since I have two RFP responses due by COB on Thursday, complicated by a work trip to Salt Lake City tomorrow and Wednesday. Please, please let the airplane wifi be functional on all legs of the trip.
Surgery~ma to Typo, and move~ma to Liese and her parents.
flea, you're the best kind of librarian.
edit, because mearaing in my head doesn't work so well:
Zen, I hope it's nothing and that any new news isn't unnerving.
Suzi, go you! That's fantastic. Fundraisers are stupidly complicated to put together.

Awwww.
Tho' I will point out that if you're 8 or 9 and reading that sort of material, the librarian will have a word with your parents to inform them of what you're reading.
(Dad told the librarian I wanted to hex a boy at school, and he was very proud I was doing my research.)
