Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Please carry on with your relaxing day of not working, which I should have done.
Ha, she laughed bitterly.
24-hour tech support for an international clientele means we have customers who don't care if it's a holiday. So I'm here. And they've sent three-quarters of the people home, because God forbid you pay people to be here so that the two people who are left aren't stressed by the rest of the people in the world who need help.
But being here means I'm "a team player" (I hate that term). And it means I'll get to go home early on another occasion. And I plan to work Thanksgiving, which makes the managers who buy in to stupid phrases like "team player" happy.
I washed my hair this morning, so I won't have to do it tomorrow, but now I'm all sweaty! Oops.
Biyi's parents' permanent residency has been approved! They may now travel freely between China and Australia
This is fabulous news, bt. And my congratulations to Ryan on his office pool victory.
I'm at work because we are testing the upgrade of our ERP before it does into full live mode across the company tomorrow. We get a free lunch, but it's Subway. Not my favorite, but free. I was hoping for barbecue because Labor Day, but that was way too high a hope.
OMG, the change-is-hard whining, even for things that we have known would be changing for months.
Change is HARD. I think the best you can hope for is people realizing that's the problem.
Relatedly, I was using my mother's new computer, and it's Win10, and I can't even figure that thing out! I mean, I figured it out, but yikes.
Well, yeah, but this upgrade has been in process since June, people should be used to how hard it is by now!
Or maybe I'm grumpy because I haven't finished my unsatisfactory lunch.
I find Subway lunch to sometimes be grumpy-making regardless, so.
There's a How It's Made marathon! I forgot how much I love this show, and how hypnotic it is.
There's a
The Librarians
marathon on too! I'm feeling much better. As long as I don't think about all the stuff I'm not getting done.
Man, I love that Bruce-Campbell-as-Santa episode.
I seriously could watch How It's Made for hours and hours and hours. It's like crack. If crack made you really mellow and zen.
We have a double-up band rehearsal tonight, so I have made crockpot chili and green chile cheesebread for the band. It is woeful, because the house has smelled SOOO good all day and I cannot eat it. I mean, I'm sure the band will appreciate it if I tell them I made them food but I ated it, but they will probably appreciate it more if I, you know, bring it with me.
