Thanks, -t. This doesn't seem normal to me, either. I got a flu vaccine and a pneumonia vaccine and I don't remember which one this was. Hopefully the nurse wrote down which one went in which arm! I left a voice message for the nurse. Maybe they'll respond to that more quickly than they do to email.

Zen, last year I got the pneumonia vaccine and the nurse missed the muscle, and I had a very bad reaction if the area is red and/ or warm to the touch, you need to be seen.

Oh dear. It's entirely possible she missed the muscle, I don't think I have any muscles in my flabby arms. It's not so warm to the touch anymore, but it's still bright red in about a 2-inch diameter circle. Damn it, nurse, call me back.
