Okay, I was baptized in the FAC in my late 20s, and my mom just got me a nice card. I didn't expect anything, though.

Saw Em twice today and talked to her on the phone as well. She seems in better spirits. She might come home late tomorrow. I really appreciate all the care and well-wishes from here. It's been an awfully scary week and I can now tell you what the worst day of life is.

Also, today I realized that since my parents last saw me on Tuesday, I've only gotten one text from them which just said what they were doing and that they were thinking of me without asking how I was doing. I mean, I'm a fully independent adult, but it would be kinda nice if they checked in. I feel bad about it bothering me because Em is what matters, but it does.

I donated a copy of Cog and signed it to the ward. I felt uncomfortable about that, but I figured it was about the reading level and it's pretty positive. Em says the only books she's seen available are a couple of bibles. It feels kinda self-promotional, but, I mean, there isn't any promotional value.

The doctors are supposed to be quite good and Emaryn's counselor knows the doctor working with her pretty well which I'm sure is helping to shorten her say. She has her counselor's private cell phone number now so she can call him anytime if she needs to. He was really shaken up about this too.

OTOH, I hate the hospital. It feels like stepping back thirty years and Em has said some of the food (which isn't great to begin with) has been well past it's best by date and in a least one case past expiration date.

I feel like hospitals are already upsetting enough that you shouldn't have to add bad food and bad vibes to the mix.

Realtors and photographer are coming to the house tomorrow to prepare for the listing. I still have my mutant hand, husband had minor surgery today for a dermatology thing, and our cleaners that were supposed to come in the morning forgot and can't make it.

Oh my god Laura, how awful. And the poor family of the victim! 39 is too young. I hope that your nephew can get some help, and help that guides him to recognition of what he's done so he can make some efforts to make amends.
