Haven't heard anything terrible about IKEA mattresses...

I just really should replace the spare before my parents visit (mom request) and am looking at the options.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Fuck!

Ohio, NC and Florid have all slid over to Trump in the latest poll numbers at 538.

Pennsylvania is the only thing that's going to stop Trump from being our next President.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Pennsylvania is the only thing that's going to stop Trump from being our next President.

Eh, I think Ohio and Florida will swing back to blue. And like I said above, I'm curious why there's such a big gap between 538's current numbers and NYT and the Princeton Consortium, because the latter 2 have Clinton's numbers much higher.

Always Anti-fascist!

I don't know...sometimes whether you are talking "Registered" or "Likely" makes a difference, and some pollsters rely on landlines pretty heavily.(can't imagine why anyone likes Trump, though.) I appreciate the McCain thoughts but having him "represent" me for my whole life has made me kind of #Overit, though it's true he wasn't always "Old Man Yells At Cloud" ETA: Have also started reading "Cog" and I like it, even though I haven't got very far and it's not my usual taste, either now or as a sprog.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The states that are solid-blue right now, including PA and VA but not including iffy NV, give Clinton 271 electoral votes. She's still winning, it's just closer than I'm comfortable with.

I can't believe America as a whole would be stupid enough to elect Trump, but that's what I said both times Bush 3 won, too.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

You know what sucks about raising your starting wage on offer by a dollar an hour because you are so desperate to find someone to hire but not raising the wages of your oldtimers? People have a really hard time not thinking things like, "Seventeen years of experience in the field, eleven years of consistent, knowledgeable service to the people I support, that's only worth fifty-eight cents," and ugly-crying as they drive home.

ETA: Guess who will not be putting up the suggested recruitment copy up on her Facebook wall?

information libertarian

Zenkitty, I work in a public library. The standard road to a professional librarian position is a 4 year college degree and then a master's of library science at an institution accredited by the American Library Association. They have a whole web site for those considering library careers. [link] But the FIRST thing to do is to get a job or volunteer at her local public library.

I'd be happy to talk to her as well. I will say it's important to like books but it's even more important to like people. Most jobs in libraries involve substantial public service.

Thank you, flea. I'll pass this information along. She may prove to be serious about this; I hope so.

update well, she responded positively, so we'll see. First the kid has to learn to drive to GET to a library.

WS, I'm really sorry about all that. It's not fair and not right.

I wish I could communicate honestly to my Society liaison just how not-excited I am about the special 50th anniversary cover. All I can think about is how difficult it'll be for me to get it done. It shouldn't be difficult, of course, but it will be.
