"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What a relief, Cass!

Cass, wonderful news. And just let yourself be for a bit.

I keep reading " poisoned taupe." And I don't even find the color offensive! Since my house is (almost) all the same color, light cream color, save accents like doors and the like, clear I'm not at all adventurous in that respect.

Growing up, one of my friend's house had all the colors of local sunsets and sunrises throughout. Each room complimented the dominant coloring of the view it faced (high over the Mesilla Valley.) It made you feel like the room was an extension of the great views & outside. It was magic.Almost needless to say, custom house and her mom was a painter and mixed the damned wall paint herself. She often changed it seasonally, much to Kim's despair (it was left to Kim and her dad to do the painting, as her mom was a paraplegic since Kim was 4 and a tiny person to begin with. She looked tlike a kid in her adapted Miata! She couldn't reach to paint beyond the bottom of the walls.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sounds amazing.

I think when I said "wheat" before I meant "oats". Whichever plant, driving up 395 last week around 4pm we could look out the window and say "yeah, that color"

Ok, I know my dad hung out with Joan Baez in Boston cafes back in the day and I know how old he is, but it still shocks me she is also 75.

I'm right there with you. My dad did a bit more than hang out with her, if rumors are true.

Punishingly Intricate

I think my dad is feeling quite jealous right now without knowing exactly why.

Dad was married to mom by then and she'd go out and do her thing and he'd do his. He was a big harmless flirt with no intentions, one of the reasons her sisters adored him.

While they were at Harvard, mom, for a period, used to loan out my dad as chaperon for her girlfriends' blind dates. Except it backfired. Inevitably, my dad would monopolize and the date had no chance, cause dad could do the charming like whoa. He can be an ass, but he can turn it on. My brother got that gene. I get flickers of it, rarely,

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Such good news!!!!
