Yeah, he has NEVER played tennis. I have no idea what he is on about, but he will be playing for at least one trimester. Highschool, unlike all other schools in the district, is on a trimester system. I have his schedule, we have orientation Thurs night, and he will never do anything official at school without me again. All the support staff are so excited to meet him now.

I don't remember parents being involved in the high school scheduling process. We filled them out at the end of the school year for the entire next year. However, the guidance counselors were and wouldn't have allowed us to not sign up for something we needed in order to graduate.

Yeah I am not necessarily required to be involved, but he is not focused on what is needed, so I will remain involved. He also changed his schedule numerous times in Jr high and I was not notified which is a giant NO in my book even though it is allowed. He needs to learn to stay with things, deal with things, have some hard teachers, have classes with and without friends.
I did my highschool schedule alone, but I would have never failed a fine art this putting me behind by 10th grade. And I would have started language in 9th grade to get it done, but Not my kid. He will be completing requirements until the last semester.

Thinking back to high school, I don't think we were given options (and certainly not younger). If I remember correctly, once you got on a track (college prep, advanced or vocational), you were assigned to whatever would fit the schedule, not make the classes disproportionate in size, etc.
