if the rest of your hair is dark, any semi-permanent dye (Manic Panic, Splat!, Special Effects, etc.) will dye your gray and leave a "gloss" of sheer color over the rest. If you're blonde (or pale ash brown, as I apparently am), the semi-perm will visibly stain your hair.

My office recently switched to a new tech support company. There have been, shall we say, issues. This morning everyone arrived to find that, due to some changes the tech support people made, we have no office email. Which has brought most of us to a standstill.

This also sucks. I suppose you can't just read a book until it comes back up, can you?

Thanks, Jilli! My natural hair color is very dark. I don't think anything will take to it without bleaching it first, but I didn't know if the semi-permanents would cover gray.

Today is TCG's first day back to work after our vacation to Cape Cod. I have made one onerous phone call, and I'm trying to figure out what I should be feeding a 1 year old. Every book has a different answer. Fun.

I'm feeling like a period of time with no email would be a blessing. Not productive, but a nice respite.

My parents don't drink and they booked themselves a cruise to all the Hawaiian islands. I've been giving tickets to concert or theatre events for gifts but I feel like I should step it up a little for this.

Ooh! They have rotating lunch stands at my office, and I don't know if these are new or if I just haven't checked it out on a Monday, but today's choices were Jamaican or Ethiopian! I went with Ethiopian and am pretty happy about it.

I think Grandma was 19 when my mom was born. I broke the family trend of marrying young although I guess my cousin picked up the slack. He's two years younger than me and a grandpa twice over.

For my parents' 50th I took them to Hot Springs for an anniversary dinner in a romantic Italian restaurant and a tour of the Mid America Science Museum the next day.

Cousins of mine had a big catered party for their 50th in a hotel, but they were a lot more outgoing than my folks, who don't like big gatherings.

You all may remember the party I threw for my parents' 45th anniversary. It was pretty much perfect, if I do say so myself! (Luckily, my mother focuses on good memories, so hasn't stayed mad that none of her family went to the party. Instead it is just a nice memory of all of their best friends there.)

A thing-of-the-month club?

Ooh, yeah! Even flowers, which I never buy for myself, but would be happy to have in the house on a regular basis. But like a food thing would be amazing. Cheese of the month would make me so happy! And carry the celebration through the year, which seems appropriate for such a big round number.

My family is the same. My father's mother was 39 or 40 when my parents got married, and my younger cousin is also a grandmother. (Although only once so far!)
