I've been giving tickets to concert or theatre events for gifts but I feel like I should step it up a little for this.

Season tickets to something? Museum memberships? A thing-of-the-month club?

For my parents' 50th I took them to Hot Springs for an anniversary dinner in a romantic Italian restaurant and a tour of the Mid America Science Museum the next day.

Cousins of mine had a big catered party for their 50th in a hotel, but they were a lot more outgoing than my folks, who don't like big gatherings.

You all may remember the party I threw for my parents' 45th anniversary. It was pretty much perfect, if I do say so myself! (Luckily, my mother focuses on good memories, so hasn't stayed mad that none of her family went to the party. Instead it is just a nice memory of all of their best friends there.)

A thing-of-the-month club?

Ooh, yeah! Even flowers, which I never buy for myself, but would be happy to have in the house on a regular basis. But like a food thing would be amazing. Cheese of the month would make me so happy! And carry the celebration through the year, which seems appropriate for such a big round number.

I think Grandma was 19 when my mom was born. I broke the family trend of marrying young although I guess my cousin picked up the slack. He's two years younger than me and a grandpa twice over.

My family is the same. My father's mother was 39 or 40 when my parents got married, and my younger cousin is also a grandmother. (Although only once so far!)

Feed her what YOU want. By one she should be pretty proficient at eating just about anything.

IDoNotHaveKids, but isn't a lot of kid-feeding focused on "What can I get the kid to swallow that's more nutritious than not"?

Monday's are stupid. Two of the key people on my one project are out of the office this week....so they worked all weekend and sent about 50 urgent important messages. In some cases asking me to do stuff I have no idea about (like "please make sure my backup has access to [system I've never heard of and don't grant access to?!?]"). Ugh.

Oh, I know. I'm just trying to figure out exactly how much she needs of what type of food so that I can type up a new schedule to put on the fridge so that everyone who is "helping" to feed her can stop asking me 50 questions while I'm trying to shower.

I'll look into options on this. My mom has a lot of food restrictions so that may limit things a bit. I'll look into season subscriptions, too.

Welp. Tech support guy got my email back ... sort of. I don't have all the email boxes I need, got two I don't need, managed to set it up so that the "general" emails that are distributed to everyone come as being forwarded from an internal email address so I can't add them to my blocked junk email senders list ... and can't add anyone to my blocked senders list because of size limitations. Also wiped out my signature (which I can recreate easily enough) AND my office calendar ... which I can't, since it includes info from bunches of other people.

And he's not going to have time to fix my issue with updating the web pages OR the fact that the new "improved" computer is slower than the old one. Started new tickets for the issues I've been complaining about for a week, so they'll be deferred until after the existing tickets (excluding mine, of course) have been dealt with.

I'm either going to go out for a good lunch or kill someone. I think I'll opt for the former ... although DON'T PUSH ME.

I don't know about ages at weddings, but my mom had 2 sisters 10 and 12 years older than her, who were both mothers by the time they were 18. I have 9 first cousins who are grandparents. I feel bad for my mom sometimes, all of her sisters are grandmothers, all but one are great-grandmothers, my brother and I never even made her a grandma.

Maybe grab the silverware from your good lunch, Todd, just in case...
