He's not perfect, but goddamn, I'm gonna miss the Obamas in the White House.

SO MUCH. As much as I love Hillary and Bill (and I do), I'm going to miss the hell out of the Obamas.

And my goodness, I sometimes forget just how good of a speaker Pres. Obama is when he's allowed to cut loose.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Man, that was an awesome speech. The GOP is upset because Obama stole their schtick: city on a hill, American exceptionalism, morning in America, etc. (Someone on Twitter pointed out that they sold it for a dime to a thick-fingered vulgarian.)

I'm full of hope again about this election.

But still: DOWNTICKET RACES, people. Hillary needs a Congress she can work with!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

He knocked it out of the park tonight.

The status is NOT quo.

Just watched Obama. As always, so powerful! He makes me hopeful...as does she.

...but, on a geeky sidenote, as he was talking about the difference between the cynical, dark vision of America and the America of optimism and hope, did anyone else flash to the Craig Ferguson cold open?

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Yesssssss. Intellect and romance triumph over brute force and cynicism.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

aurelia, I always take the attitude of "I'm the mama, it's my job to do this nasty thing to you" when I have to do unpleasant things to my cats. They will forgive you for the unpleasantness and they will forgive you for travelling. It sure doesn't feel good, though.

Thank you, Windsparrow. I'll try to remember that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know if I can fully express how much I think of my parents every time I see old pictures of the Clintons. The stocky, sunny, Southern guy (especially when Bill has the beard) and the edgier Northern woman? Totally my parents.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Last night gave me two gut punches. The video introduction of Obama included footage of him hugging family members of the Sandy Hook victims - which included a friend of mine. The shot of him hugging two women - I know the one on the right. Then with all the talk about Hillary and her work with children's rights made me think of a close family friend who passed away this last Christmas and I knew she had to have met Hillary at some point. Sure enough, Patty's daughter posted a picture of Patty and Hillary last night. It was from when she (Patty) spoke at the Clinton White House about childcare needs.
