Just watched Obama. As always, so powerful! He makes me hopeful...as does she.
...but, on a geeky sidenote, as he was talking about the difference between the cynical, dark vision of America and the America of optimism and hope, did anyone else flash to the Craig Ferguson cold open?

aurelia, I always take the attitude of "I'm the mama, it's my job to do this nasty thing to you" when I have to do unpleasant things to my cats. They will forgive you for the unpleasantness and they will forgive you for travelling. It sure doesn't feel good, though.

I don't know if I can fully express how much I think of my parents every time I see old pictures of the Clintons. The stocky, sunny, Southern guy (especially when Bill has the beard) and the edgier Northern woman? Totally my parents.
Last night gave me two gut punches. The video introduction of Obama included footage of him hugging family members of the Sandy Hook victims - which included a friend of mine. The shot of him hugging two women - I know the one on the right. Then with all the talk about Hillary and her work with children's rights made me think of a close family friend who passed away this last Christmas and I knew she had to have met Hillary at some point. Sure enough, Patty's daughter posted a picture of Patty and Hillary last night. It was from when she (Patty) spoke at the Clinton White House about childcare needs.
Also, an all white production of "The Wiz" is weird, right?
Can black people have NOTHING?!?!!? Jesus!
I just found out the Tin Man is black. It is clearly very popular, as they have a 75 member adult/teen chorus, and 100 first - sixth graders playing muchkins and poppies.
I don't usually wear t-shirts with stuff on them, but I kind of want a t-shirt that just says "malarkey." A black women's-shaped tee with a good font, please.
I'm full of hope again about this election.

Who is in charge of stock photos? I am desperate for pictures of over 40 black, asian, latino, and even white women who a) look like real people and b) are wearing business clothes or lab coats or scrubs. Why is every stock photo on the place we have a contract with a model-looking 20 year old white girl in a lab coat. My target audience is experienced nurses!
