Ah, summer, when 92 degrees in the shade feels pretty good, especially with a light breeze, and I can cheerfully tell myself that "No, that's not an incipient panic attack while I'm driving down the freeway, that's just an incipient asthma attack from the smoke in the air! Much more reassuring."

edit: Really, it was reassuring, I actually felt cheered up. "No, I'm not going nuts, it's just my crappy lungs!"

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We went to the surprise birthday party for the fellow I mentioned who has anxiety, whose girlfriend said she had no idea how he feels about surprise parties (but went ahead and planned a party with 25 people anyway).

He was...not okay. But he's a good guy, so he pushed through and tried to put his best face on it. By the end of dinner (and after several shots of tequila), he had chilled out somewhat.

Man, I know his GF had the best of intentions, but, hell, if you know your BF has severe anxiety, maybe test the waters and see how he feels about surprise parties before just throwing one and hoping for the best. Daaaaang.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I've been okay with saltines and applesauce tonight, so things are looking up. I still think I'll delay the drive a day.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

From about 500 posts ago:

And I didn't see Javier Munoz as Hamilton; it was the guy who will be leading the Chicago cast. He was wonderful.

YAY! I'm going to the Chicago Hamilton in October, so this makes me happy to hear.

My sister-in-law had an unfortunate encounter with her sidewalk this afternoon and posted pictures of her bruised face on Facebook. She looks so much like her mother it's ridiculous, but the quickest way for her to never speak to me again would be to say so. Considering the two of them sued each other over various matters, they did not have a cordial relationship.

I went to see Ghostbusters by myself earlier (yum yum Kate McKinnon) and then went to the women's soccer game with a friend who just moved to town. Took UberPool back...and it somehow took 45 minutes (it should be like 15). Ridiculous! But the guy I shared the car with is from DC and works at th White House, and is moving out to Seattle in a month, and came to the soccer game by himself while here on a vacation/trip to look for housing. How cool is that?

Tomorrow. A birthday party for a one year old, a birthday party for a 30 year old, and a beach party. And more working out.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Feel better, aurelia. Glad you're with family.

I am a slothful sloth today.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Meh. It's hot. Luckily we don't have a lot scheduled today.

Thrive to spite them

Steph that's a really horrible thing to do for someone with anxiety I hope she figures out that it's more important to do what works for the person you are giving the party for rather than what you think is cool.
