I went to see Ghostbusters by myself earlier (yum yum Kate McKinnon) and then went to the women's soccer game with a friend who just moved to town. Took UberPool back...and it somehow took 45 minutes (it should be like 15). Ridiculous! But the guy I shared the car with is from DC and works at th White House, and is moving out to Seattle in a month, and came to the soccer game by himself while here on a vacation/trip to look for housing. How cool is that?
Tomorrow. A birthday party for a one year old, a birthday party for a 30 year old, and a beach party. And more working out.
Feel better, aurelia. Glad you're with family.
I am a slothful sloth today.
Timelies all!
Meh. It's hot. Luckily we don't have a lot scheduled today.
Steph that's a really horrible thing to do for someone with anxiety I hope she figures out that it's more important to do what works for the person you are giving the party for rather than what you think is cool.
Went to see Weird Al at the Hollywood Bowl last night, with the HB Orchestra. Lots of fun-even though it did not cool down until way after dark. Straight No Chaser was the opener and the poor guys looked like they were boiling in their suits. They were really good--they closed with an Uptown Funk/Thriller mash up which got the audience on their feet. Weird Al was in great voice and put on a hell of a show--costumes, dancing, video clips. We did not stop smiling all night.
All in all, a splendid date with the DH was had.
My audiobook ran out so I listened to some Hamilton. Then I bought the soundtrack. Wow.
Beware of the Hamilaria, Gud.
Welcome to the tribe, Gud. I don't know anyone who was able to listen to a few tracks without wanting to own the whole thing.
I'm trying to write this week's paper and I am struggling. It isn't that the topic is difficult, I just can't focus for the life of me. I've tried different locations, different background noise (I really suck at working in silence) and so far nothing is helping. I have closed my usual tabs for buffistas, facebook, and my personal e-mail, yet here I am. Hopefully the typical "if I whine about it, the situation will resolve itself" will happen once I post this.
If y'all see me anywhere on the net - poke me and make sure I'm making progress or, better yet, am DONE.
I've noticed something in the background music of the restaurants I go to, nearly all of them play classic rock. Einstein's Bagels was doing a good tour of '70s bands. Hardly any place does current stuff. The most current stuff I hear is at least three or four years old. Is it a licensing thing? Is old music that much cheaper? I don't think they're trying to cater to my age group, because I've noticed my age group is pretty invisible to marketeers these days, unless they're selling drugs and retirement things (pout).
Or is it that the music I grew up with is that much better than newer stuff and everybody knows it?
Connie, I'm definitely the target audience for much of the background music I hear. I have been known to bop my way through the grocery store, quietly singing along to whatever is playing.
Paper-wise, I'm closing in on my conclusion. I'm on target to meet the page length goal. I think I'm ok on references. Once I'm done with the draft, I need to read it through along with the rubric.
I'm sorry to fuss about school so much here. Hopefully once I'm in the groove of writing papers each week, I won't be such a whiner.
