Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Felt like going back in time.

Did the place smell like wood varnish and machine oil and paint thinner and old cardboard and history?

Gud, that looks almost exactly like the hardware store in my neighborhood. And they always manage to have almost everything that we need.

I was wondering what it smelled like, too.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Man, I love real hardware stores, when you can find them. Chain of whatever gauge you need by the yard! Bins of nails! Cast iron cookware! Kerosene lamps and lamp oil--and wicks! Where else can you buy lamp wicks? And the help is always so knowledgeable and *help*ful.

All good thoughts for your friend, Plei.

Stoically not monitoring the news--we've been sick, and honestly, my blood pressure can't take it. I'll have to live with whatever the eventual outcome is, but I'm really really afraid to allow myself to hope for the best. Preparing for the worst is less harrowing than having hope slaughtered by reality.

There's one like that in Lisah's hood. Great place, totally a warren. I can never remember the name right, so always end up calling it some variation on Falkenfrickinnfrack. My ace is in a really old post office building and bright & not warreny, but they stock to suit the neighborhood, so it's also great!

Our wings are not tired.

So it is Clinton/Kaine. Not thrilling to the left, but I have to accept it is the best plan. Most are already set. It is those pesky undecideds that have to be won over.

I'll take a perception of reliability vs radicalism, especially compared to Il Duce The Second.

I think he's a good choice. He might get some of the people who hate Trump but have been on the fence about Clinton.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

So it is Clinton/Kaine.

Meh. Compared to Trump, "meh" is a unicorn/Jesus ticket, and it's not like I was going to vote Republcan no matter who HRC picked. But on its own merits, meh.

Ha! Falkenham's! They are great.
