Since 9, I've been in a meeting that has required about two minutes of participation from me. Grr.

Ah meetings, so often the bane of productivity.

I'm in meetings from 8-11:30am this morning. And then from 1-4pm. Ha ha haaaa.

She just blithely rewrites the original submission.

Holy crap, version control!

I'm "working from home" today, which actually means I'm camped in the coffee shop around the corner from my house. Because there's no way The Boss (this girl, you know) would allow me to actually WORK in the house.

It's a pretty good coffee shop, actually. They roast their own beans and have free wifi and not-free empanadas, and if I weren't tracking calories like a mofo (my favorite jeans stopped fitting, sigh), I would be all over the empanadas.

Anyway, I'm working from home because I have a major report to finish that I've been stalling on for about a year. Not entirely my fault, the planners kept changing the project, so I saw no reason to spend a lot of time on it. Except now they've gone and finalized their report and had it signed off without talking to me! Apparently they've forgotten they can't forward it up for approval without the environmental review. t face-palm

And because I have so many little projects and so many distractions at work, I got my boss to approve a couple days/week of work-from-home until I get this done. At least I got to sleep in a little bit anyway. But it's going to be hard without access to the network at the office, I'll have to email myself a lot of files.

My mother-in-law just freaked out at my husband, because she's convinced that the background check for the new job will turn up the circumstances of his firing, and so he won't get the job, and why didn't he insist that they give him a good reference?

I'm sure, when you're completely blind-sided by being fired, everyone has the presence of mind (and the leverage) to insist on these things.

Ugh, Dana's mother-in-law. Not helping. I don't remember the circumstances of your DH's previous job, but I really hope he gets this one.

Is there anything more irritating in news or sports coverage than bringing someone on to summarize what social media is saying? If I wanted to know, I'd be on social media.

Jilli, right? I'm just gobsmacked that she's been here for years and thought that was okay. She won't do it again.

My old boss would've found a way to make this be my fault. So thankful she's gone. I have so much less stress at work now.

I can't believe this is the first time it's been an issue! IME, any time version control could be a problem, it's a problem.

I'm so sick of this project and the bullshit way the planner has run it. I'm just going to bull through it, and put it out there, and let the planners take the heat for it. It's stupid and a waste of money and BLARGH.

And, to make it worse, the planner has gotten rewarded for not coordinating with other people and bullshitting her way through it all. She's gotten at least two raises in the last few years, despite having alienated all the environmental staff she's worked with. Argh. I don't even dislike her on a personal level, but she's almost useless in a team context: she makes all the decisions, doesn't consult, doesn't provide information.
