Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Crap! Someone or somehow the freezer got left open last night and now everything in my fridge has defrosted. Ugh. Now I have to figure out what to keep and what to toss.

Any clue how I determine what is safe to keep?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Overnight I would toss everything, but I'm super paranoid about that kind of thing.

I thought I would be too, sj, but my paranoia is tempered by my annoyance. I looked it up online and we seem to have skimmed the magic line of 40 degrees/still has ice crystals for the stuff in the deep freeze, but tossing much of the rest.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I would eat as much as I could without checking, but I gamble with food a lot and sometimes lose.

I stayed home yesterday from work feeling yuck. The same yuck I get every couple of weeks where nothing is really wrong, but I can sleep all day. Usually I still go to work, but decided against it yesterday. Today other people were scheduled to be out at work so I really had to come in (if I was legit sick I would not). Thankfully it is a very quiet day at work.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh no, Burrell! That's a bummer.

Sometimes you just need the day, Rebecca.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm home with the little guy. He's napping right now. Hopefully his temperature will stay below 100, and he can go back to daycare tomorrow.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I stayed home yesterday from work feeling yuck. The same yuck I get every couple of weeks where nothing is really wrong, but I can sleep all day.

That happens to me--every few months I wake up feeling completely exhausted, so I call in sick and sleep all day. I think it's stress-related.

But since I've been working from home, I haven't called in sick. Things have been slow at work so I can often take naps.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Freezer is sorted, now I'm crossing my fingers that it freezes up again or else we will need to buy a new fridge, uh, tomorrow.

Meanwhile this afternoon I am taking my daughter and her friend down to OC to see Dan and Phil's The Amazing Tour Is Not On Fire. There will be 4 girls together, moms will be hanging out in South Coast Plaza while they attend the show. Despite their not being a rock band, I think this counts as their first big concert, right?

I am decidedly anxious about it even though I'm sure it will all go well. But still... driving to OC, parking, meeting up with people in public spaces with no one getting lost, 4 girls on their own!, safety rules and reminders, 4 GIRLS ON THEIR OWN! Ugh.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We (Tim and his brothers, plus the wives [which makes us sound vaguely Fury Road-esque]) have an appointment with the family attorney today to get our questions answered about getting all the financial/logistic ducks in a row to start the process of finding an assisted living community for his dad. It needs to happen, and he'll be so much happier there, but it's also depressing because change sucks, as does dementia.

Relatedly, Tim's brother is still gung-ho about strong-arming their dad down to the beach even though he doesn't want to go and cannot fucking walk up or down even 5 steps, let alone THREE FLIGHTS. (I've said my peace; they all know I think this is a stupid-ass idea, and there's nothing else I can do. Plus I genuinely think that when Tim's brother shows up on the day it's time to leave and tells his dad that he's going to pack his bag for him and they're getting in the car, his dad is going to tell him in no uncertain terms that he's staying home. And if that happens, Tim's brother has said he'll respect that. [Which makes me full of raaaaaaaaage, because god damn it, why can't he just respect that NOW????])

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

None of that stuff is easy, Steph.
