I'd like a boyfriend, too, please. I mean, I have no real hope I'll ever find a compatible guy, but as long as we're putting it out there...
I've found my girl, but she's far away, and at this point I feel like we may never coincide locally. We keep talking about "when we move in together" but it's feeling like a fantasy lately.
Speaking of which/whom, remember my BFF's troublesome youngest daughter? Good news and bad news! Bad news is, she flunked junior year. Didn't pass a single class. And since she was held back one year already, she's now 18 and having to repeat her junior year. The good news is, she got a job! Working at MickeyD's. She's happy with it so far. Having a job has made quite a difference in her attitude, she's become more engaged and responsible and doesn't stay on the computer 24/7.
And relatedly, good going, Mac, keep it up! I hope Mac can keep his head in the right place, Rebecca. Both of you need some calm and order in your lives.
I really have come to believe that staying on a computer for hours at a time is bad for all of us. It's certainly bad for ME. So I'm going to go fold some laundry now. Yay.
Timelies all!
Back from the spa and lunch(not at the spa). Now it's Gary's turn to do errands while I watch the little guy.(who fell asleep not long after I put him in the crib.)
Hey, does anyone know if superglue is safe to be used for something that goes in your mouth?
(The fake teeth on my temporary partial denture are starting to crack off. I'll have to wait until at least Monday to get it looked at. I won't be gluing anything to anything that actually is a part of me...)
Burrell, see them being in LA I do not see as a hard negative. I see where they might, but an online semi-fake boyfriend seems kinda perfect to me.
ION - I helped a friend pack up a bit of her house today. This is a lady from church that we always enjoy each other's company, but have never really done anything together. They are DC area transplants, but like a decade ago. She has 2 boys younger than mac, so doing things together never worked out. She did not have enough packing supplies for me to whole hog, but we got a lot of breakable stuff packed in 3 hours, so there is that. Maybe 8 medium sized boxes and we had to take a break to go buy more packing paper in there. I think overwhelmed her with talking - SHOCKER, but it's me, so that is to be expected. I think when they get settled in the new place she and I will set up monthly stuff together. YAY!
Now I have grocery shopped and gassed up the car. It is hot and disgusting out there. 95 with 50% humidity which is high for us. We need a rain dump to cut that down to 20% or so and then it wouldn't be so bad.
I am inside for the near future. Glad I did a load of laundry yesterday and had it out to dry overnight. I might get some cleaning done, but I might just watch shows.
Theodosia, first hit on "superglue toxicity mouth" says don't do it. [link]
oh crap, I temporarily forgot about Father's day. Off to the mall.
Yeeks! They suggest 'denture adhesive' which is worth a try I suppose. At least that's not supposed to be bad for skin contact.
Why did my brain just say "duck tape's not toxic, is it?"
Not helping, brain.
Jeeesus Christ, it's hot.
You're looking too, Epic?
Okay I should preface with I've never played matchmaker to anyone, so there's that. Also if I know him, he's probably either an academic or a dad or both. :-)
I am hanging a the library enjoying the air conditioning and free wifi while the kids are taking a practice test for the ISEE test. Just to practice test taking skills. I am such an evil mom, I know. My mom never woulda done me like that. Then again, dad is bribing them with a new computer drawing program (for the girl) and a new game (for the boy), which is another thing my mom woulda never done (unless you count taking us out for ice cream in exchange for washing the car).
