I want to rail against Trump (among so many others), but what's the point? You all know what's going on. People on my FB know what's going on. All I'd be doing is adding to the noise. I donated, I wrote my senators. What's the point of anything else?
Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I mean, I'm almost afraid to talk to people about anything of substance. What happens if I find out they support Trump? I don't think I could look them in the face.
Looking at Foxnews.com is depressing.
Main headline: ORLANDO MASSACRE GUNMAN CALLED 'UNHINGED AND UNSTABLE' Ex-colleague says shooter spewed racist, misogynist hate but wasn't fired — because he was Muslim
Did the shooter claim ties to (or at least allegiance to) ISIS? Because I've seen people on FB saying that it's wrong to call him a radical extremist when he was "just" a homophobe. Can't he be both?
(Seriously, I don't want to misstep here; I'm not assuming he was a terrorist because he was Muslim; I thought that it was documented that he called 911 before the shooting and claimed allegiance with ISIS.)
I read that he claimed allegiance with ISIS as well.
I have only one Trump supporter on my friends list, and I keep him on because he is fascinating to me, because he thinks that he is all logic and no emotion (he has aspergers) and every conclusion he comes to is right so it must be our emotions causing us to draw other conclusions. He is a friend from high school, and is super smart and just fun to talk to about most things, because he does respect a logical argument and change his mind if you can make one. However, he cannot see how much emotion he has in how much he hates Hilary or how much he is against gun control. I have to share:
Wow, if this doesn't say it all. Hillary is an utter embarrassment. Trump is clearly exactly what we need in these dangerous times:
"Really bad shooting in Orlando. Police investigating possible terrorism. Many people dead and wounded," tweeted Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.
Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee, posted on her Twitter feed: "Woke up to hear the devastating news from FL. As we wait for more information, my thoughts are with those affected by this horrific act. -- H"
Trump reacts with identifying the problem and preparing for action. Hillary swoons with emotion.
He claimed allegiance, but I don't think there has been anything found actually linking him to them.
Like if someone did the same thing and in their call said the pledged alligence to the Southern Baptist Convention, but wasn't actually a member of a church or we didn't have proof of any contact of the murderer and the org aside from reading the Internet.
Drew, I am so sorry.
I think (I don't know by any means) this is just some lost, unhinged dude who latched onto ISIS as an identity and bought up some weaponry to "be ready". Then something set him off. Human time-bomb.
skip, skip...
Someone remind me to stop arguing with the guy who seems to be mansplaining mixed beers on Facebook. We get it: you think those of us who like a harmonized shandy aren't worthy beer drinkers.
But it's still pissing me off.
Also, stop bringing German beer into the equation. German beer ain't all that.
So, I was super behind in Natter when all that went down. He was formerly a somewhat entertaining but cranky beer writer but between his fucking ridiculousness on that thread and his horrible Feel the Bern anti-Hillary and anti-Hillary supporters rants, I have unfollowed him.
Being involved in the beer biz means having a lot of various bros (from the South and elsewhere) on my FL and it kinds wears me down a lot.
ION, yesterday was super shitty, and today doesn't seem like much of an improvement.
