I made Chana masala for work lunches this week. The recipe calls for twice as much turmeric as cayenne, and I reversed the proportions. And then I remember that I was out of jalopeño, so I added more cayenne to compensate. In conclusion, whoa.

My neighbor has a pool which I have never heard him use. I wish my neighborhood was the type where people said hi and we got to know each other. I'd love to have occasional use of his pool. I could make baked good and bring beer.

Vortex, if you want to soak in a hot tub, I'm currently visiting my mom about 40 minutes from you...no pool, alas.
I didn't make a big announcement in Beep Me because I'm friends with most of you in FB, but my grandmother Frances passed away last weekend. She was two weeks shy of 103. She lived a very long, rich life — so yes, we are grieving, but mostly celebrating her life. I've been posting a picture a day over on my FB from my collection of photos gathered for her 100th birthday (literally from a picture of her as a baby in 1913 to pictures from this year) and will do so for a month.
I'm just home briefly to spend a little time with my mom. She's doing pretty well but feeling a bit lost after she's been caring for her mother all these years. I was lucky that I could get a few days away from school during this exam week.

I went to a lake today, but would've much rather been at a pool--I waded in the lake but it was too cold to swim in. Sadly I don't think I have any friends with pools here.
Pix, that's good you at least got to go home for a few days, for that. :(
