Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Gud: I'm sorry to hear Girls Who Code turned you down. Did they say why? I mean, it's a donation, right?
I wanted to get their non-profit tax id so I can just send proceeds directly to them and not have to deal with the tax situation of earning money and then donating. So, like what Jesse said, it was more complicated. Though I don't think of it as a partnership, I just wanted to give them the profit and say all proceeds are going to them, I'd be happy to include a disclaimer that there is no association. I suppose that still implies a kind of relationship though. I suspect they just don't have the time to vet a tiny fish like me, which is totally reasonable.
Mostly, I don't want to sell merch for profit as it seems kinda crass. When I have time I'll look around for some other charity that seems to fit.
Course, if anyone knows a good charity they can point me too, then that would be awesome. To sort of tie into the theme, I'd like something that helps girls especially with the promotion of STEM skills, but something that helps kids in general would be cool too. Basically something that does legit good. Not that I expect it to be much money ever.
Yeah, basically you naming them in marketing implies their endorsement, and then you get into legal vetting, and questions of what "proceeds" really means and all kinds of technical BS.
How about something more local and smaller
Man, I was barely here yesterday. My internal natter pressure is getting high!
Weekly Tai Chi update: Elbow Strike -> Back Fist -> Palm Strike -> Kidney Punch -> Roll Back -> Punch Down -> Double Warrior (I'm not sure about the names of those last two, I may have garbled them). Between how far we are in the form and the repeated bits in what follows I am starting to feel like I know more of it than I don't know.
Before class I went out to the Iron Horse Trail which is helpfully marked in quarter-mile increments so I could calibrate my stride-length. Your move, Fitbit.
I think I know what section you are in -t, but our teacher uses less martial terms so it's hard to say for sure. Also, I feel sort of lost in second set. I know it well enough to follow someone but I don't really know the sections in the right order. We just went through Monkey, which I'd learned before, but not with any sense of where it fit in the whole order.
The combat applications actually help me to remember the postures, I think, although my teacher always cautions us not to go and try them out as we might accidentally do it right and really hurt someone. We're just a little past Monkey. There's Cloud Hands, some kicking to the left and then this punching to the right part where we are.
I realized a few days ago that I had not been practicing the Monkey Qi Gong and I forgot a whole section. Good thing we went through it at practice on Saturday, I think I got it back. I will have to miss this Saturday, though, it conflicts with a 5K.
When you folk in the US buy dresses on eShakti, how much is the shipping and duty for you? It pretty much doubles the price of a dress for me, so I rarely buy from there.
Also, I think I need entirely custom sizing for their dresses to fit my boobs. But I am always so tempted.
I have still not bought anything from eShakti, sorry.
Oh, hey, my little USB hub is also a speaker. I had no idea.
