Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

He sounds sweet.

Now that I have fortified myself with leftovers for lunch and an unexpected but satisfying nap, I'm having my banana split for dinner. Delicious.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Gud, I lived in Lawrence when I first got onto Buffistas on Salon1 I totally know Mass Street! Yay for you!

M gets here on the 7th, so we are super-excited and have a fun month ahead of us till the 31st. It's his first time at the new house, and so we're getting the stuff we were (ahem) ignoring after moving to 3 houses in a month, but things are shaping up nicely.

brillig

I ordered this dress [link] and had it express shipped so it would get here before Vegas, and it got here today, and it fits perfectly. So wonderfully purple! And swishy skirt! I'm now thinking of buying the blue one. And the red one. Probably not the black one. Probably.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

That is a great Vegas vacation dress! And summer dress in general.

Yay for summer vacations! Have a great time, Connie, in your new dress!

I'm mildly envious of you all who get actual summer weather. We had a couple of warm days, and then the temperature dropped again. Me, I wore a shawl at my desk all day.

Anyway, tomorrow is my regular day off, but since it's also a paid holiday, I get to take the paid holiday next week some time. Coolness! And I get to spend time with my nephews, because my brother's family is coming to town for the weekend.

JZ--I will just say that the only emotion I felt at my mother's death was relief. She spent the last five years of her life being miserable and making everyone around her miserable, and then it was over. And I couldn't even grieve. I still haven't, really. I try not to feel bad about not feeling bad: I figure that'll come, with time. (That or I'm emotionally broken, which I hope is not the case...)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Or you handled your grieving along the way, which seems like the most likely.

Probably, yeah.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jill Pantozzi is no longer the editor of The Mary Sue. As she's not going to another job, I presume she was forced out. Lot of defections from that site.

I gave up on it after the big merger. What a waste.

I gave up on it after the big merger.

I stuck with it, and have (IMO) found it to be much the same as before: it's rather less Gizmodo-like than I had feared.

I do wonder why Pantozzi is leaving, though.
