Ha, Matt, the Preds will totally figure into plans! It's such an interesting question, really. Nashville is obviously the clear choice for songwriting. But, Nashville is also a much tower town in which to build the rest of your music living. I can't teach there, or do session work, or the recording studio. I can't play out. My chops just aren't up to par for a town like that. Whereas possibly a Memphis would be far out enough to where I could do some of that stuff to pay the bills while I work toward the songwriting goals. Plus it's cheaper. The question would be, would it be close enough to Nashville, then, that I could do the meetings and networking and general pounding the pavement by traveling in frequently? I don't know the answer to that.
Mystery solved, sarameg! I say you call that good work and rest on your laurels.
Hope you get to feeling better, dcp. The SO has a cold right now, so I feel doubly guilty for gallivanting off to LA. But I offered to stay and he wouldn't let me. He's in the Valley for training all week next week anyway, so hopefully he'll feel better and then he can chill some. But I don't seem to have caught it before my trip, hallelujah, thank you swine flu super immunity!
Well, Memphis to Nashville tends to be a 4 hour drive each way. It's do-able on occasion, but I wouldn't want to make it a regular job feature. Just 90 minutes each way was wearying and ate up a huge chunk of my free time when I was doing Memphis to Jonesboro.
On the plus side for Memphis, my impression is the food scene is better (though perhaps not healthier) than Nashville.
Despite a light rain to tamp the pollen down, sneezed my way to and fro market.
Who thought it was a good idea to have an uncomfortable medical thing yesterday and a teeth cleaning this morning? NOT ME. And yet here I am.
Unpleasantness over in a short period?
Going to go shop as soon as I inventory what I'm about out of...
Yeah, that's why I didn't reschedule any of it....
Timelies all!
The low battery alarm on the baby monitor went off around 2:30 this morning. Then Nova started meowing for breakfast at 6:15. The little guy followed at 7:30. So I'm just a bit tired.

Nashville actually has a great food scene these days. I can't speak to how it compares to Memphis, but there are tons of great restaurants here, with all kinds of cuisines (and price points).
Nashville has Bongo Java. Hang on, I'll be there in nine hours.
I forgot the 3 thing I expressly noted I was out of. As one does.
