Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That's bananapants, meara.
Argh. My "leadership team" is not helping me with my problem at all, just advising me to do what I have already done. And, much as I don't need another meeting to go to, there was one today that directly concerns my problem that I did not know was happening until we got the post meeting recap. I have told them several times that I want to at least be notified of these meetings so I can decide if it would be helpful for me to attend but I guess that is just not how we are doing things anymore.
Ugh, dentist. Grumble, forgot anxiety meds and it was more work than just impressions. I have a new temp until Friday when I have to go back for the permanent bridge. Anxiety meds have been applied but I still feel like I'm trying to vibrate out of my skin.
I did cruise...Msbelle is a badass, zen in generous with her dick, meara is handling crap busywork, and I know there is more but my brain is shutting down.
But if Zen had a giant dick, I would totally be on it.
Ahahahaha!!
meara, that's way worse than the filing I've been avoiding, and I'm still avoiding it!
OMG people. You crack me up.
Suzi, so sorry about continued dentist woes.
From way back, my dad only knew how to make three dinners, one of which was tuna noodle casserole, and the other was American Chop Suey. I love both of them since they were dad comfort food growing up.
Indeed, if I had a giant dick, everyone would be invited to be on it, because I'm generous that way.
I love you guys.
Poor roommate sent me a laundry list of requests because she's not that mobile right now, and I took a deep breath and asked if someone else was available to help, because I'm so out of spoons right now. And it turns out someone is available! Yay.
I have a monster headache and I'd like to take a long walk to get my stress level down before I try to do some furniture math and ordering. I'm going to need a couch, a nightstand, some additional bookshelves, and probably a kitchen table/chairs.
I'm also looking at armoires, but I probably will wait on that one for a bit. Because I'm spending tons of money and I'm trying to spread out the charges on my credit card.
Staff meeting full of passive aggressive BS and passive aggressive bullying on the part of our ED with linesike "he was only teasing" and "stop being so sensitive". Way to carry on your streak if dismissiveness. Not only that, but passive aggressive bullying.
Colleague had arranged to walk the grounds to point out what needed taking care of. After his remark, she was all "fuck that". So I'm slated to be the one , but he blows me off. But the fact is, he's the DoH, and shouldn't need a show of hands from the entire staff to see that maintenance is currently a shitshow. And after that meeting, I still don't think he gets it. Every different department sees what's wrong, and if he'd just come with "I agree, we're just shirtstaffed", it would be fine. But he just really doesn't see how bad things are.
Apparently I've blown out another couple of PVDs in my left eye, so wish me luck Thursday as the eye doc takes a look. I'd really like some better resolution than "It should eventually sink below your sight line" for the giant shape-morphing floaters from the previous PVDs, as it's been six years and they haven't appreciably "sunk." The new one looks like the paramecium planet eater from TOS.
I'm going to immortalize the flea dick conversation, if no one's beaten me to COMM, yet. If I can see past or through the planet eating paramecium, that is.
On the posts from a while ago about campus cops in DC: during the time I was at GW, there was an incident where an undergrad was trying to get into the campus gym, but didn't have her campus ID with her. The people at the front desk told her she couldn't get in without her ID. She pleaded a bit, then left and snuck in. The front desk people saw her on the elliptical and told her to leave, and she refused. After a bit of argument, the front desk people (who were just undergrads with work-study jobs) told her she was trespassing and they'd call the campus police. She basically said, go ahead. So they did. Police came, told her she had to leave the gym, and she still refused. After some more argument with the police, and her still refusing to leave the gym, they evidently got fed up and arrested her. Since campus cops there are real cops, they brought her down to the regular DC lockup, and she had to call her parents to get someone to bail her out.
Hil, I was afraid for a second that story was going to have a much worse ending!!
Nah. I remember an editorial in the campus paper, something like, "Is being a spoiled brat really a crime?"
