I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Somedays, I just want to run away and join the circus, or go live in a hotel for a month, or barricade my door and spend the rest of my life streaming Netflix. It doesn't mean I do it, and it doesn't mean I should be criticized for these occasional thoughts.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I like sparking joy as a criteria but I think I am more easily sparked than most people. Or have a low bar for what constitutes joy. Something.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Most things in my life are not sparking joy. I think that's an excessively high bar.

Agreed. In fact, I'd say you have a surprisingly long list of joyful items. Let's see I got: vanilla oolong tea and... uh... stretch class and Tai Chi. Do those last two count or does it need to be an object?

Most of the stuff currently in my life sparks joy. Working Sunday will be an exception to that, however.

I stopped by the office tonight to feed the office cat and close her up in a room where she won't set off the motion detectors. She jumped up on a box my co-worker covered with a carpet sample for her, rolled around, and fell off the side into her water dish. Aren't cats supposed to be graceful?

The "sparking joy" is supposed to be about things, yes; but I prefer William Blake's rule to Marie Kondo's.

If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

We are awake, but the dog we are dogsitting for this weekend has declined to move, other than to curl into a tighter ball in his bed.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I've been wondering if it's any good! I think I'll buy some and give it a whirl.

shrift, I really like their cider. It's not too sweet.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

Ooh, I like that. I agree with the meme I saw on Facebook that says they started Konmarie-ing, and threw out all their bills and vegetables. (I mean, I love a lot of vegetables, but I get the sentiment.)

I went through all the excess papers on my desk-side book stand, and threw away a bunch of stuff dating back to 2010. Looks much cleaner now, and I found an unopened Christmas card from my cousin who passed away last year.
