So there is something I can do, besides scream like a woman?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

think our (actually very small) raises might have kicked our income up a tax bracket.

Only the additional income, over whatever line, would be subject to a higher rate. It's probably the freelance stuff.

This morning I made the run to the community household hazardous waste collection and was boggled yet again how no one gets run over/into in the chaos. Was also amused at the young man who was surprised by the weight of a five-gallon bucket of paint. More stuff gone. Then had lunch and listened a middle-aged man teach a younger man how to navigate the Internet (I need to hang out at the local McDonald's more often, it's a hive of interesting little meetings). Then to the grocery store to get Diet Coke and dark chocolate miniature Reese's cups (of the devil, so yummy), then to the comics store.

Now when I'm done here I'll watch Cadfael DVDs and do the hot weather/cold weather swap of the wardrobe.

To that end, how stained would a tank top have to be before you're embarrassed to donate it to the homeless shelter? I'm trying not to keep shirts I wouldn't wear to work, but I feel bad for expecting someone in need to wear them.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

You can give it away and the recipient can decide. You aren't obligating anyone to wear it.

Got something done! A very small something, but hey.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Around here they encourage us to donate even torn, stained, and mismatched items to Goodwill and similar organizations, because they can pass them along to the facilities that can recycle the fabric or leather or whatever. So if someplace like that is an option as well as going directly to a homeless shelter, that's a way to keep things out of the landfill.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Well, D and I were supposed to celebrate our 6th Anniversary -- it fell on a Saturday! -- with a fancy dinner, and drinks after. We were even going to get a cab, so both of us could have more than 1 cocktail. (We are both terrible lightweights these days.)

But Dan came home feeling crappy last night, and is on-call this week, and got called in this morning, and though I felt fine when I went to sleep, my gusher of a running nose woke me up. Gross.

So we're postponing a week, but that's fine. He brought my sneezy self flowers and toffee and the cheese enchiladas I'd been craving, on his way home from the office, so our weekend will be high on the pajama wearing, tea drinking, Star Wars watching front.

Considering last year we spent our anniversary moving house for the first of two times in three weeks, this weekend is pretty damned blissful in comparison, snot and all.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

oh holy hell. my 2014 tax return is still in processing, so I can not file my 2015 return. I guess I will be calling IRS office Monday morning. I am sure that is going to go GREAT.

Shelters have to deal with a lot of borderline crap. I'd say if it's visibly stained, trash it.

Whoa, really? I don't know why that should be such a shock to my worldview but it seems to be.

Today might just end u[ being all about breaking down boxes. I guess that's okay, it certainly needs doing.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Congrats Jessica! That's awesome

On the other hand, not awesome IRS, why you gotta do things that way? Rebecca, you can probably just file an extension for 2015 taxes, with the one hitch there being you need to pay up what you think you owe if you think you owe, but you get 3 more months finish up the paperwork. Or in this case, wait for the IRS to finish up the 2014 taxes. Ugh. What a mess.

I did my bike-to-stretch class routine this morning, which meant getting rained on, but not too bad. And then I was too sore and hungry to go straight home, so I stopped to get food on the way. And since I got home it's been laundry, mostly folding (somehow there were 3 big loads waiting to be folded! I hate it when no one does the folding when I ask), now on to dishes. At some point, I'll get to sit in the shower, which will be bliss.
