Mad Man country!
That is some awesome adulting, Jess! Go you.
I made a good start today--I made it to OSH and Costco by 10:00, but now I seem to have stalled. I should change that.
Very nice, Jess! Cautious congrats!
Lovely house!
I didn't sleep well last night--combo of coughing fits (part of recent bout with the flu I'm recovering from), extra-snoring husband (one of HIS flu after-effects), and mostly TV rage (which you can read about in Boxed Set if you're so inclined). So I spent the morning dozing and reading and am now trying to get myself awake and functional enough to adult despite having had maybe 3 hours of sleep total. Gronk....
Woohoo, Jess!
think our (actually very small) raises might have kicked our income up a tax bracket.
Only the additional income, over whatever line, would be subject to a higher rate. It's probably the freelance stuff.
This morning I made the run to the community household hazardous waste collection and was boggled yet again how no one gets run over/into in the chaos. Was also amused at the young man who was surprised by the weight of a five-gallon bucket of paint. More stuff gone. Then had lunch and listened a middle-aged man teach a younger man how to navigate the Internet (I need to hang out at the local McDonald's more often, it's a hive of interesting little meetings). Then to the grocery store to get Diet Coke and dark chocolate miniature Reese's cups (of the devil, so yummy), then to the comics store.
Now when I'm done here I'll watch Cadfael DVDs and do the hot weather/cold weather swap of the wardrobe.
To that end, how stained would a tank top have to be before you're embarrassed to donate it to the homeless shelter? I'm trying not to keep shirts I wouldn't wear to work, but I feel bad for expecting someone in need to wear them.
You can give it away and the recipient can decide. You aren't obligating anyone to wear it.
Got something done! A very small something, but hey.

Around here they encourage us to donate even torn, stained, and mismatched items to Goodwill and similar organizations, because they can pass them along to the facilities that can recycle the fabric or leather or whatever. So if someplace like that is an option as well as going directly to a homeless shelter, that's a way to keep things out of the landfill.
