Watching my sister's Facebook posts fascinates me, most of the people she's chatting with are people from grade school.

Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yay sarameg!
Dad gets discharged tomorrow. He's not the same: he'll be on oxygen for a while, and will have a hospital bed (and OMG the bureaucratic hoops to jump through to get oxygen and a hospital bed, you cannot imagine), and will need constant attendance when he's eating to keep him swallowing, and watch for aspirating food.
But he'll be happy to be home, think, and in his own space with his tv and his books.
Still, I'm into negative numbers on my sick leave and suspect I will max it out this year (and not for me).
Can you get some Family Leave for this transition, Consuela?
Great news, sarameg!
I took my folks out for dinner tonight to celebrate Mom's birthday. The big score for the event was finding a duplicate of the pie plate my great grandmother gave her, which was accidentally broken beyond repair a few years ago: [link]
Dad forgot that it was supposed to be his birthday gift to her though, and told her it was from me.
Aaaand I come in with a shitload of admin work to do to shift contracts to find my systems actively trying to commit suicide. Awesome.
Very pretty Matt.
That's an awesome gift. (Matt's, not sarameg's.)
Congratulations on the offer, sara! That is fantastic to hear!
(Sorry about your systems.)
I love getting those kinds of gifts -- my mother actively scours garage sales and we always end up with something like that for Christmas.
Last night Tom Angleberger was at our local library for his new book and the Children's Room was filled with boys who wanted to loudly discuss the plot holes in all the Star Wars movies. I shushed one of them, like the Librarian Warlord I am. We get so many great kids authors coming through, and K's collection of signed copies is growing. Also this Spring: Mac Barnett, Sophie Blackall, Dave Barry and Ben Hatke.
Boy, there's nothing I like more than being in a meeting with bickering coders, arguing about things I don't understand.
Now don't you wish you had some cats to check in on?
