I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Show of hands, has anyone EVER been on a webconference that worked perfectly?

Maybe 2? For context, I've run over 50. So, not great odds.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Our weekly or bi-weekly conferences are usually good, in terms of screen-sharing and audio. If they don't work, it's usually that the entire meeting link doesn't work.

Coding and Sleeping

I webconference almost every day at work and it usually works well. Almost everybody turns off video unless they need to show something though.

Coding and Sleeping

I'm contemplating writing a book (or maybe video series) for learning to code in Java (probably for v. 9) with the angle of trying to be more real-world (without losing accessibility) than what I've seen available. My wife kinda gave me the idea and is all behind it. It sort of struck me that I'm principal software engineer at a Fortune 50 company and have been doing Java development for well over a decade. I have like professional cred. Kinda weird to think about.

Course I got to get this study software I'm working on done before anything else. I'm thinking I may also finally release Cog knowing that I can't put out a sequel soon. Maybe it'll flop anyhow and it won't be an issue.

There's so much I'd like to do and so little time for any of it. But I suppose that's a pretty common problem.

There is a political ad on heavy rotation on my favorite radio station from the Center for Individual Freedom (a name chock full of right wing wacko warning bells) being horrified that one of Utah's congressmen is *horror* standing with Barack Obama (shudder) in backing some sort of plan to apparently write off some of Puerto Rico's debt. The ad is full of warnings about threats to retirees and making it harder for Utah to borrow money and pointing out that Republican politicians are against it. There have been three iterations of this ad, and in the past two the policy in question was called something like Super Restructuring. The new ad is calling it Super Chapter 9. I just Googled Super Chapter 9. The only reference I can find to it is in reference to DragonBall Z.

Whatever it is, I hope it's voted on soon so I can stop listening to this breathlessly horrified female begging me to call my Congressman to stop him from cooperating with That Man.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ideas please?

For dinner last night my sis made a pasta with peas, ricotta and tarragon. It was...fine. Just super bland. But we've got a ton left over. What can I add that might liven it up?

I've got some feta but was planning to use that for something else. Any other thoughts?

Punishingly Intricate

What can I add that might liven it up?

Salt and cheese and a little crushed red pepper, olives and/or capers

Y'all, five minutes before I had to leave for the dentist, my div deputy walks into my office.

I HAVE AN OFFER LETTER!!

My biggest concern, a pay cut? NSM. Opposite, in fact. A 15-18 %(can't remember current base salary right now) INCREASE, before you factor in benefits (like the 10% company contribution to retirement.)

Holy shizznit. Still processing. Can't say anything yet on fb until later. Holy crap.
