Jayne: What're you gonna tell the others? Mal: About what? Jayne: About why I'm dead. Mal: Hadn't thought about it. Jayne: Make something up. Don't tell 'em what I did.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Have I told the story of when one of my friends had a client who insisted that 10% of anything was always 10? Because 100% is the whole thing, and 10% of 100 is 10, therefore 10% is always 10!

Oh holy shit. I mean, in a sense, 10% is always 10%, so yeah, but...NO. Percentages and numbers are DIFFERENT THINGS.

I'm trying to think of the most maddening thing an author did to me. I think the worst I've ever seen adjacent to me was when a principal investigator rejected our design for an informational poster, saying something like "You may not be familiar with creating posters for field campaigns..."

He said this to the public relations coordinator. Who had 10 years of experience with the program. Which mostly sponsored field campaigns.

Fortunately, in that case, we just referred him to our DOE head, who came down on him like a ton of bricks.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Percentages and numbers are DIFFERENT THINGS.

The map is not the territory.

I've had about enough of thinking for today.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Wow, you guys make me want to go hug the Engineers I edit. 95% of the time when I point out an error, they just go, "Hey, yeah, you're right. Thanks for catching that." Have to fight a couple of the other depts, but the Engineers, hardly ever. I literally never thought I'd be grateful for the Engineers I edit, so, I guess, thanks for the perspective, Steph & Zen!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Tonight is my first Stand-up comedy class. I am excited and nervous.

Separate post for my condolences to Liese. I'm sure your father felt blessed to have you for a daughter.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I'm sorry for your loss, Liese.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

For example I moved to a twisty windy mountain road. I was scared of driving up and down it. I worked on coping skills and I finally got to the point where I could go up or down with no second thought - at night! In the Rain!

I've driven through some of those twisty roads in Asheville, and they are freaking terrifying (I'm thinking the dark highway heading into town, specifically).

Gud, are you punking us with the insane long list of stuff you do on a daily basis and saying it's not anywhere near good enough? Because, damn.
