Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Because the Beastie Boys are stuck in my head I had a dream last night that involved their music. I was having to learn or teach someone a rap and involved Hamilton, the Beastie Boys, and JayZ. It went from
after the war, we went back to New York
Into something from the Beasties that I cannot remember and now cannot make fit
Into Empire State of Mind.
Snowing. I'm tired of snow. A foot of snow in the mountains yesterday, another foot expected today, which hallelujah for the water year, but really, I'm tired of it.
Something with a brief swirl of big fluffy flakes that are pretty on the daffodils, that's good, but this wall of cloud against the office windows with white, swirling bits--no. It's nearly April. Go home, winter, you're drunk.
My aspiration went fine, no follow up, so that's good.
YAY!
I would have thought I spent hours literally just looking at the computer but that has not been true so far this morning. It's a lot of switching!
This is why I've worn bifocals for years. So much easier.
I do plan to bring up my coworker's micromanaging, so I'm a little queasy.
I hope this is going well.
If I hadn't had my iron levels checked fairly recently, I'd think my anemia was getting crazy. Second day in a row I woke up rested but within a few hours, I'm exhausted.
I will say this for my manager, our review meetings are not unreasonably padded. It was all fine, and I will send her an example of the kind of micromanaging I'm talking about.
Now, more caffeine.
I took a personal day, because I have a dentist appointment later, and I also needed to get my drivers license renewed. But! My trip to the DMV only lasted, like, ten minutes! Now I have most of the day free.
Must be review season. I have my preliminary PEP review this afternoon. It's my first at this job, so here's hoping it goes well.

That sounds frustrating. I hope you can find an easily solved cause.

Do you have to lean your head back to look at the screen, though? I feel like the field of optometry hasn't yet caught up with The Modern World.

Tom! Free time!!! Go hug strangers! Go run screaming through a park! I am full of ideas for your free time.

I don't. But it probably depends on your set-up. I've worn bifocals so long I don't notice switching between the different focal points.
I DO literally spend hours just looking at a computer! I really need to make more of an effort to do that 20-20-20 eye resty thing.
Hooray for free tome and not overly long review meetings! I don't really understand our review cycle - our self-evals are due in March, but the actual review isn't until May (adding to my perennial confusion about all this, my unofficial anniversary of when I started temping here is also in March, and my official work anniversary is in June, neither of which have anything to do with anything review-wise, but muddy the waters in my head nonetheless)
Oh, I bought myself a donut this morning and I haven't eaten it yet, Good job, past me!
