I think we should bus drunk drag queens and handsy cisgender men from leather bars to the state capitol to use the restrooms. The legislators will be nostalgically yearning for trans people just doing their business quietly.

I'd set up a checkpoint outside the capitol restrooms to check birth certificates. Sorry Senator, no proof of gender, no bathroom access.

I would do like to organize a massive cross-dressing protest at the capital to form lines at the bathrooms.

That would be fun. DH would look awesomely scary in a dress.

Oh Consuela, it is so hard.

Honestly, I am grateful every day for my mother's gentle decline. She likely will turn 95 this summer and her frequent lapses of memory just seem "normal". She sleeps much of the time, but for the most part she is still fine. She has my brother and step-dad living with her and they both dote on her and keep her safe and loved. She takes care of her own bills still insisting on writing checks and not doing a computer. She cooks (not much), and reads her newspaper every day and keeps up with all the politics.

Some stuff she is still super sharp about, other things not so much. Silly stuff, like every time they watch Big Bang she says she has never seen that episode before and thinks it is a brand new show they just started watching. And we smile at her because she makes aging look cute. And we all have many other life experiences where it was an awful and painful experience, and we are grateful that she and we were spared this time around.

Consuela, it is challenging, but you are aware of what is happening and you will know.

I took a Hamilton break last night and listened to 1776 instead. We may see murder yet.

I'm so ungrateful -- in the continued saga of Jesse Goes to the Doctor, I just made an appointment to get an IUD, and I'm disappointed that her first available was at 3pm on a Friday! That's something I would have taken the whole day off for! It's also a month away, which is probably for the best, given the three appointments I've had this week and one more next week. I'm sure everyone on my team thinks I'm interviewing.

Interesting wake-up call this morning, someone crashed their car into a brick planter in front of my apartment. Going the wrong way on a one way street. Main Street. At 7:45 am. No ambulances, so apparently the driver wasn't seriously injured. Which I suspect we can thank his passengers Jim Beam or Jack Daniels for.

It looks like I'm going to be riding in a minivan for 6 or so hours today through rain and freezing rain. Yuck.
