25 years wow.
I'll have worked a ttl of at least 21 different places. Many of those being times I had 2 jobs concurrently, occasionally 3. I have never worked anywhere more than 4 years. My current employer will probably end up being my longest.

My longest job besides my current one was 3.5 years when I was living in Minneapolis.
If you count the opera wardrobe work (not full time) I have been with my University for 20 years and I am also 42. I have been working since 15, and have only worked for 4 places (not counting one off costume or children' camp type places that were just for a couple of weeks here and there)
My paid jobs: teenaged babysitting miscellany, farm stand, paper route, Express at the mall, college guest house, college slide library, temp agency in DC (many many work locations), contract archaeologist, grad student, contract archaeologist, Looniversity, Uggaversity, local university, current job. Not counting volunteer stuff and archaeological field projects while a grad student. Longest duration: 6 years, Looniversity.
I'm coming up on 28 years with my company, though my title and the specific responsibilities of my job have changed over the years.
I've been at my current job for two years and a month (or 4-5 months if you count the time I was temping), and I think it's the longest I've stayed with one employer. Counting the jobs I've had seems like it would be hard. I'd probably miss some.
I can guess why it happened, but Sophia's spoiler fonting is amusing me.
Longest job was 12 years, current job just passed 9 years. I'd be happy to be here till retirement--at which point I'll probably be a part-timer at Walmart or something. It's just as well I didn't become a librarian, those jobs are getting harder to find. My best jobs have come from being a nerd who can type fast.
My deliberate attempts to add stability to my work life have never worked out. That was kinda the point of the MBA, but have a I ever gotten a job in my field? No. This job I fell into accidentally - it was not the sort of thing I was looking for and I was not the kind of employee they had in mind, but it seems to be going pretty well.
I've been at the same company for 27 years, but since it is my company it is a bit different. I've asked DH to fire me many times, but he refuses.
Sheryl, so excited for your family news. Remember, you will get tons of unsolicited advice from all directions, but the best solicited advice can be obtained here! Delighted for you and Gary, and the boy.
I'm working at my friend's pet store today (in exchange for pet supplies). My co-worker is a tiny tuxedo kitten who will Not let me pick her up!
