For people like me who weren't willing to brave the theaters Dr. Strange 2 hits Disney+ tomorrow. (That's busy day with the final episode of OB1 and the next episode of Ms. Marvel as well.)

Finally watched Dr. Strange 2. I really enjoyed it and as someone who only tolerates horror, at best, I was glad the horror elements were more like Army of Darkness than some of Raimi's other horror movies. The Illuminati getting killed was the only part that really disturbed me. I did love the little sting from the old X-Men cartoon when Xavier was introduced and I thought the musical battle with evil Strange was brilliantly done and I had giant smile on my face during that sequence.

If you are having bladder issues or something, the second post-credits scene at the very end is skippable.

Unless you really love Bruce Campbell in which case I wouldn't dream of skipping it.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

I'm really loving Ms. Marvel but had some major issues with Ep. 3. They did a major jump from kindly request for undefined "help" with time to think about it to "they're going to kill your family!" super fast. And why? Why attack the wedding? If they wanted to grab her, ANY OTHER TIME would have been better; if they wanted hostages... well, okay, that would make sense, except they never said that and they didn't seem particularly concerned that everyone was leaving.

Anyway, that really threw me out. Maybe they cut some stuff they shouldn't have? Otherwise it was great, and I loved the wedding itself, the dancing, the reappearance of the Hulk shalwar kameez, Ameer's worry, the absolute fondness of the couple...

So still loving the show, the actors, and the style. I've had a couple moments of eyerolling when parents react in a way that makes sense for the plot but not for, say, parents who couldn't find their daughter during an emergency...

But mostly love it. And am eager to find out what happens next.

Concur, Emily. That was a unexpected escalation. But I'm still enjoying the hell out of the show: it's just so charming and embedded in its social context.

Ep. 4

So many tantalizingly nostalgically familiar tidbits. I knew most of the Urdu phrases. It bothers me that the subtitles labeled them Hindi.

So much artistic license. That was a much cleaner and less crowded Karachi than what I remember. It bothers me that they got the kites wrong.

The vehicle chase was almost watch-from-the-hall silly. Not quite as bad as the James Bond movie, but close. And I wanted to hear someone shout, "My cabbages!"

I'm enjoying it overall, but they are trying to tell too much story in too little time. The jumps in the storytelling are jarring.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Emily, I agree, there was a big narrative leap there, but I'm still loving the show. I haven't seen the most recent episode yet.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

At the end of episode 4, I assume that Kamala went back in time to the train out of Karachi that her great-grandfather and young grandmother were on? And following that thread, I'm also assuming (speculation, not spoiler) that Kamala will meet her great-grandmother Aisha and get the second bangle.

Steph, I'm thinking we're going to see the trail of stars event.

That could probably lead Kamala to Aisha, though, right? I feel like that's a possible outcome.
